required. In this case, the release of the electrical contact
(C) must bring the pump to a safe condition, removing
the electrical power supply. Furthermore, in accordance
with the ATEX regulations, the power supply must not
restart automatically, but a manual verification and reset
intervention are required.
If it is not possible to guarantee the minimum flow rate required,
it is recommended to use a bypass or a recirculation branch.
EN
6.8 DAMAGE DUE TO NON- CHEMICAL
COMPATIBILITY BETWEEN FLUID AND
COMPONENTS
Check the chemical compatibility between the fluid and
the constituent parts of the pump.
6.9 CAVITATION
It is important to always check the correct sizing of the
pump (therefore it is essential to check the value required
by the pump from the NPSH curves; the curves can be
found in the general product catalogues).
6.10 FLUIDS AT TEMPERATURE
It is the responsibility of the user or
installer to ensure that the temperature
of the pumped fluid does not exceed the
maximum required values. The control
devices used must comply with the EN
80079-37 standard.
TAB.2 shows the temperature classes in relation to the
maximum surface temperatures as defined by the EN
80079-36 standard.

TAB.2: Classification of the maximum surface temperature
for devices in group II G (in accordance with the EN
80079-36 standard)
The temperature class of the pump mainly depends on the
temperature of the fluid being processed. TAB. 3 indicates
the maximum temperature permitted by the fluid according
to the temperature class (these values are permitted
respecting the conditions expressed in section 3.3 NOTES).
It is important, to ensure the maximum temperature of the
fluid, to fit a reading device. If the limit value expressed by
TAB. 3, a trip device must bring the pump to the shutdown
state. The temperature measuring instrument must be
ATEX-certified with ATEX marking consistent with that of
the pump, while the control unit that guarantees intervention
in case of exceeding the limits must be FAILURE SAFE.

TAB. 3. Maximum fluid temperature according to the
temperature class
* The maximum temperature depends on the materials
used for the construction of the pump and in particular on
the type of mechanical seal chosen. This data is reported
in paragraph 4.1 of PART 2 of the Use and maintenance
manual and in the technical documentation available at
www.ebaraeurope.com.

7. MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR

To avoid sparks due to electrostatic
discharges, do not use dry cloths to clean the
appliance.
For the maintenance and repair prescriptions it is necessary
to follow the indications in the paragraph "MAINTENANCE
AND REPAIR" of PART 1 of the use and maintenance manual.
A further prescription refers to the pump cleaning operations
which must never be performed with dry cloths. Wiping
with dry and non-damp cloths such as pure polyamide or
cotton fabrics can cause electric shocks.
The 3SF-3LSF models are without bearings.
The 3PF-3PLF models are equipped with their own bearings.
The bearings are maintenance-free; at a temperature of
40°C the service hours are 20,000.
The pump does not require routine maintenance other than
cleaning and periodic checks for noise, vibrations or other
conditions that indicate wear of the components.
The main and most recurring extraordinary maintenance
operations are generally the following:
- replacements of the mechanical seal
- replacement of the sealing rings
- replacement of bearings
- replacement of capacitors
for which it is necessary to contact the dealer or the after-
sales service.
8. IDENTIFIED RISKS AND RESIDUAL RISKS
This pump is ATEX-certified, therefore an appropriate risk
analysis has been prepared. The main risks identified are:
- dry operation
- operation with obstructed or closed delivery valve, or
operation with flow rate lower than the minimum required
flow rate
- operation with high temperature fluids
- operation at a speed higher than the nominal one
All of these risks have been detailed in section 6. INSTALLATION
AND USE.
No residual risks have been identified for which appropriate
indications have not been provided in this manual.
