Slots for internal expansion cards
Note
Use the module clamp to secure the expansion cards installed at a later time. We recommend securing the cards in direction
of the device front. When installing the clamp, make sure that you do not damage any of the components on the expansion
cards.
The PCIe expansion card should be used as a plant bus as follows:
• SIMATIC IPC647D (Type 1), CP1623: Slot 3 (pre-installed with IE bundle)
• SIMATIC IPC647D (Type 2), CP1623: Slot 4 (pre-installed with IE bundle)
• SIMATIC IPC847D, CP1623: Slot 3 (pre-installed with IE bundle)
• SIMATIC IPC647D (Type 1), BCE communication card: Slot 3 (pre-installed with BCE bundle)
• SIMATIC IPC647D (Type 2), BCE communication card: Slot 4 (pre-installed with BCE bundle)
• SIMATIC IPC847D, BCE communication card: Slot 3 (pre-installed with BCE bundle)
• SIMATIC IPC647D, (Type 1) redundant CP1623: Additional slot 4
• SIMATIC IPC647D (Type 1), redundant BCE communications card: Additional slot 4
• SIMATIC IPC647D (Type 2), redundant CP1623: Additional slot 1
• SIMATIC IPC647D (Type 2), redundant BCE communications card: Additional slot 1

Slot for multi-monitor graphics card You can expand your device with a multi-monitor graphics card. Use the following slots
for this.
• SIMATIC IPC647D (Type 1): Slot 2
• SIMATIC IPC647D (Type 2): Slot 1
• SIMATIC IPC847D: Slot 8
Slot for hardware RAID controller (only with Windows Server) If your device is equipped with a hardware RAID controller, it is
installed in one of the following slots:
• SIMATIC IPC647D (Type 1): Slot 1
• SIMATIC IPC647D (Type 2): No configuration with hardware RAID controller
• SIMATIC IPC847D: Slot 6
If it has not been allocated to another module, a slot next to a hardware RAID controller (see the following list) is equipped
with a perforated cover for better ventilation.
• SIMATIC IPC647D (Type 1): Slot 4
• SIMATIC IPC847D: Slot 5
For configurations with hardware RAID controllers, these slots must not be used for any other modules.
