Functions of the crown

Normal position
(Crown screwed in)
The DPC mechanism
DPC stands for Double Pull Crown and descri-
bes a mechanism which ensures that the crown
is only moved into position 1 (for setting the
date) when it is pulled once. If the crown is re-
leased briefly after doing this, it visibly springs
back a little. It is now possible to move the
crown into position 2 (time setting position) by
pulling it again. If the seals in the crown are very
tight, it may be necessary to tap the crown lightly
once it has reached position 1 before pulling it
again to engage in position 2.
Normal position
The Streamliner Perpetual Calendar has a
screw-in crown. Screwing in the crown (normal
position, position X) ensures that the time set-
ting cannot be accidentally adjusted
and also provides protection against the ingress
of dirt or water. The crown can be loosened by
turning it anti-clockwise until it is unscrewed, at
which point it will automatically be in position 0,
or the winding position. The crown can be scre-
wed back in and re-secured by pushing it into
position X and simultaneously turning it clock-
wise.
In position 0 – the winding position – the Stream-
liner Perpetual Calendar can be wound by hand
using the crown. To wind your watch, the crown
must be turned clockwise to tighten the winding
spring. The watch is fully wound when resistance
can be felt while turning the crown clockwise.
Your watch now has a power reserve of at least
seven days.

Date setting position
(Crown pulled)
The date setting position
Crown position 1 is provided for quickly chan-
ging the date and the month. The movement
does not stop while the date is being changed
and it also allows the date to be set during the
calendar changeover phase. The date can be
set by turning the crown forwards or backwards.
This does not affect the current time shown on
the watch. Please note that the movement
moves the date forward at midnight. If your
watch has not been used for a while and it is
therefore not possible to see the position of the
date relative to the time, we recommend first
synchronising the time on the 24-hour day. (See
page 7 "The time setting position").
When the right date then appears in the window,
if the time is also correct, push the crown back
to the normal position 0.
The time setting position
To move the crown into the position for setting
the time (position 2), pull the crown out from the
winding position 0 twice. The way this mecha-
nism works is described under "The DPC me-
chanism". When the crown engages in position
2, the movement stops. The watch can be set to
the nearest second by pulling the crown into po-
sition 2 when the second hand is pointing
exactly at 12 o'clock. Once the crown is enga-
ged in position 2, you can set the minute and
hour hands by turning the crown in either direc-
tion. The calendar always switches from one
date to the next exactly at 24:00, including in
the time setting position. If the calendar swit-
ches when the minute hand is pointing at
12 o'clock, this means that the time currently in-
