REUSABLE CABLES FOR LANTERN LARYNGEAL ELECTRODE
Intended use
Reusable cables for Lantern Laryngeal Electrodes are intended to connect Neurosign®
Lantern Laryngeal Electrodes to intraoperative neuromonitoring systems for monitoring of the
recurrent laryngeal or vagus nerves during surgery. Reusable cables for Lantern Laryngeal
Electrodes are accessories to Neurosign® Lantern Laryngeal Electrodes and intraoperative
neuromonitoring systems, and as such the cables are intended to be used by a qualified
healthcare professional. This product can be used on the general population at the discretion
of a healthcare professional.
Use of product
• Before use, clean and disinfect cables according to the instructions below.
• The 4203-NM cable is designed to be used in combination with Neurosign® Lantern
Laryngeal Electrodes and Neurosign® V4 Intraoperative Nerve Monitor. The colour coding
and design of connectors of this cable allow it to be used with other intraoperative
neuromonitoring systems which utilise the same colour coding.
• The 4203-00 cable is designed to be used in combination with Neurosign® Lantern
Laryngeal Electrodes and Neurosign® 100 Nerve Monitoring System.
• Reusable cables have 5 connectors with 6 wires coloured red, blue and green on the
4203-NM cable and yellow, blue and green on the 4203-00. These should be connected to
the appropriate coloured connectors on the pre-amplifier pod.
Cleaning
Reusable cables for Lantern Laryngeal Electrodes should be thoroughly cleaned before the
first use and after each subsequent use. Immediately after use, wipe the cable using a soft
cloth dipped in lukewarm water (at temperatures below 43°C (110°F)) with a mild
detergent/enzymatic product to remove foreign material. Excessive pressure and continued
flexing of the cable during cleaning or use can stretch the cable jacket and break the internal
wires, damaging the cable. After wiping clean, rinse the cable with lukewarm water to prevent
coagulation and thus assisting in the removal of protein substances. Carefully inspect the
cable to ensure the complete removal of any contamination. Do not immerse or rinse cable
connectors in any solution, as it may damage the product.
