Intended Use

4.0 Intended Use
X-ray protection for patients protects against ionising radiation – in the X-ray tube voltage range
of 50 - 150 kV (standard) or 50 - 110 kV (NovaLite).
Correct application of the protective products by medical staff is essential. This is essential to ensure
optimum radiation protection in accordance with legal requirements.
Inspect products for visible damage before use. For this purpose see also „Inspection" (Chapter 7.0).
RP270 – Mammary Gland Protection for Adults
Adult mammary gland protection is intended to protect the mammary glands against scattered
radiation during mammography recordings.
Hang the protector over the patient's shoulder so one of the protective areas covers the chest
and the other hangs on the back of the patient, so that neither protector is in the imaging area.
If necessary, adjust the length of the connection with the hook and burr fastener.
RP271 – Mammary Gland Protection for Children
Mammary gland protection for children is intended to protect the mammary glands against
scattered radiation during X-rays in medical diagnostics.
Attach the mammary gland protection similar to a bikini top so that it is not in the imaging area.
The cord stopper should sit in the neck. Adjust the size of the mammary gland protection using
the cord stopper. Then close with a loop on the patient's back. The protective surfaces can be
reduced in size with the neoprene stoppers if necessary.
Models RP274, RP276, RP280 – Testes Protection
The testes protection is intended to protect the gonads of the male patient against unnecessary
irradiation by the radiation beam and against scattered radiation when the gonads are close to
or within the properly limited radiation beamfor example during a radiological examination of
the pelvis.
RP274 Attach the radiation protection on the patient similar to a diaper. Close the hook and
burr fasteners.
RP276 Place or have the patient place the disposable plastic bag over penis and scrotum.
Attach or let the patient attach the radiation protection. Close the hook and burr fastener.
Using the snap buttons, this model can be unfolded completely for easy cleaning and
disinfection.
RP280 Place or have the patient place the disposable plastic bag over penis and scrotum.
Attach or let the patient attach the radiation protection.
For hygienic reasons, always use products RP276 and RP280 in combination
NOTE:
with a disposable plastic bag for enclosing penis and scrotum.
