8. During inhalation, sit upright and relaxed at a table,
not in an armchair. This is to avoid compressing the
airways and compromising the effectiveness of the
treatment. Do not inhale while lying down. Stop in-
halation if you feel uncomfortable.
9. After the period of inhalation recommended by your
physician, turn the EMSER
operating switch (  1 a) and remove the mains plug.
10. Empty the atomiser (  3   ) of any remaining medication
and clean it as described in the section "Cleaning and
disinfection".
The EMSER
Inhalator Pro is designed for inter-
®
val operation with 30 minutes operation / 30 minutes
pause. Switch off the device after 30 minutes at the lat-
est, and wait 30 minutes before continuing treatment.
This device does not need to be calibrated.
The device may not be modified.
Essential oils, cough syrups, gargling solutions and
drops to be used as a rub or in a steam bath are wholly
unsuitable for inhalation using a nebuliser. These addi-
tives are often viscous and can impair the correct func-
tioning of the device and therefore the effectiveness of
the application in the long term. For individuals with a
hypersensitive bronchial system, medications contain-
ing essential oils may under certain conditions cause an
acute bronchospasm (a sudden cramp-like restriction of
the bronchi with shortness of breath). Consult your doc-
tor or pharmacist in relation to this matter.

4. Cleaning and disinfection

After treatment and if not used for the longer term, thor-
oughly clean all components as described below to re-
move any drug residue and possible contamination. Use
a soft dry cloth and, if necessary, a non-abrasive cleaning
product to clean the compressor.
Ensure that the inner parts of the EMSER
tor Pro do not come into contact with liquid, and remove
the plug from the mains before cleaning.
Cleaning and disinfection of accessories
Carefully follow the cleaning and disinfection instructions
for the accessories, as they are essential for the perfor-
mance of the device and the success of the treatment.
Before first use or after each further treatment,
disassemble the atomiser (  3   ) into its individual parts by
turning the upper part to the left and detaching it from
the lower part, then remove the cover and the cone.
Wash the disassembled atomiser components, the
mouthpiece (  4   ) and the nosepiece (  7   ) with tap water and
immerse them in boiling water for 5 minutes, avoiding
contact between the accessories and the hot pan base.

Reassemble the atomiser components, connect to the
compressed air hose with the device switched on and
let it run for 10 to 15 minutes.
For disinfection of the masks (  5 , 6  ) , wash them with
warm water and immerse the masks in 70 % ethanol
for 10 minutes. Afterwards, wash the masks with tap
water again.
Storage
Drying
Place the individual parts on a clean, dry and absorbent
surface and leave them to dry completely (at least 4
hours).
Note
Please be aware that the parts must be completely dried
after cleaning, as otherwise the risk of bacterial growth
is increased.
For storing the device, put the parts together again once
these are completely dry. Place the parts in a dry, sealed
container.
Wash the masks with warm water.
The compressed air hose and masks must not be
boiled or autoclaved (steam sterilisation process be-
tween 110°C and 140°C).

5. Maintenance, care and service

Replacing the atomiser
Replace the atomiser (  3   ) if it is deformed or damaged
or if the nebuliser head (  3 a) is blocked by dried medica-
tion, dust, etc. following a long break from treatment. The
atomiser should be replaced after a period of half a year
to one year, depending on the frequency of treatment.
Only use genuine atomisers!
Replacing the air filter
In normal operating conditions, the air filter must be re-
placed after approx. 200 operating hours or one year.
Check the air filter regularly (after about 10 to 12 treat-
ments). If it is grey or brown or wet, remove the filter
and replace it. To do this, carefully loosen the cover of
the air filter compartment (  1 c) and replace the filter (  8   ) .
Close the lid (  1 c) again.
