PHOTO 38. Cut and glue the finials, nos. 62, 63 and 64, as shown in the image.
PHOTO 39. Glue the gallery onto the stern of the ship and, onto the gallery, the parts, nos. 65, 66, 67 and 68. Use quick-drying
glue. Make a blind hole in the centre of the upper stern, 4 mm. from its top edge.
PHOTO 40. Adjust the size of the hinge, using cutting pliers. See Plan 1. Make up the rudder blade using the parts shown in the
image.
PHOTO 41. Glue the rubbing strake, no. 72, to the point where the gallery joins the upper stern. Attach the rudder blade to the
part, no. 73 and insert the end of the helm into the hole in the stern. Attach the rudder blade to the hull using the hinges.
PHOTO 42. Select the strips to make up the rubbing strakes, nos. 74, 75, 76, 77 and 78. Sand down the strips and immerse
them in water for at least an hour, so that they gain in elasticity. Fit and glue the rubbing strakes to the hull, using quick-drying
glue, after checking their positions on Plan.
PHOTO 43. Fit the strips of grating, no. 79, together until you have made up a piece of 32 units. For this process use quick-
drying glue. Cut the grating to the shape shown in the image.
PHOTO 44. Glue the grating to the front edge of the castle deck and frame it using the parts, nos. 80 and 81. Cut to size the
inwale, no. 82, and glue it to the bulwarks. Use quick-drying glue.
PHOTO 45. Using quick-drying glue, glue the parts, nos. 83, 84, 85, 86, 87 and 88 centred on the bulwarks. See Plans.
PHOTO 46. Also using quick-drying glue, glue the parts, nos. 89, 90, 91 and 92, into place.
PHOTO 47. Glue the parts, nos. 93, 94, 95 and 96 into place as shown in the image. Before fitting the parts, no. 97, cut the
rubbing strakes so that the brackets are inserted.
PHOTO 48. Make up the parts, nos. 98, 99, 100 and 101, and glue them in place. The part, no. 101, must be inserted by cutting
the rubbing strakes. See Plans.
PHOTO 49. In order to be able to glue the parts, no. 102, into place, cut the rubbing strakes. See layout in Plan 1. The parts,
nos. 104 and 105, must be inserted in the hull. To this end cut through the lining using a cutter.
PHOTO 50. Make up the cat davits, no. 106, and the hawse covers, no. 107, and glue them into place as shown in the image.

PHOTO 51. Make up the parts, nos. 65, 109, 110 and 108, and glue them into place. Make up the parts, nos. 111 and 112 and
insert them in the fenders, as shown in Plans.
PHOTO 52. Make up the parts, nos. 108 and 113, and glue them into place. Make up the parts, nos. 114 and 115, and insert
them into the fenders, as shown in Plans. Glue the parts, no. 116, and drill the holes as shown in the image. Join the rings I to
the eyebolts B. Drill 0.75 mm. ø holes for the eyebolts.
PHOTO 53. Make up the parts, nos. 65, 108, 117, 118, 119, 120, I and B, and glue them into place. See Plans. Having reached
this stage of the assembly, varnish the whole of the hull, using colourless, satin-finish, pore-filler varnish. (Carefully read the
manufacturer's instructions for use). From this point of the assembly on all of the wooden parts that have to be incorporated to
the ship will have to be varnished.
PHOTO 54. Glue the parts, nos. 121, 122 and 123 in place. See Plans. Paint the colours of the shields, no. 125, and glue them
in place. Glue the horse, no. 124, centring the hole in it between the flag and the rider, with the hole in the upper stern, as
shown in photo 39.
PHOTO 55. Fit the eyebolts B as shown in the image and attach them to the chain, no. 126.
PHOTO 56. Attach the clump blocks G to the chain plates, no. 127. Attach the chain plates to the hull with the pins A and fit the
eyebolts B in place. See Plans. Attach all of the hull chain plates.
PHOTO 57. Paint the part, no. 128, and glue it to the anchor, no. 129. Fit one of the rings, K, to the end of the anchor and attach
the anchor cable, no. 130, to the ring. Reinforce this union with a lashing, no. 131. Using one of the slings, C, join one of the
pulleys, E, to the ring.
PHOTO 58. Glue the end of the anchor cable to one of the hawses, as shown in the image and make up the lashings, no. 132.
Make up the tackle, no. 133, and tie it off to the bow rail. Glue all of the belaying pins, J, in place in the pinracks.
SUPERSTRUCTURE
Having reached this stage in the construction of your model, follow the established numerical order and make up the parts
represented in this section. Some of these parts have to be painted, to do so use acrylic water-based paints. Once the parts
have been made up they must be glued into position as shown in the image and with the distribution indicated in the plans. Use
quick-drying glue for assembly and positioning.
MASTS AND RIGGING
In order to make up the masts the first step is to cut the rods to size, as indicate din the parts list, or by taking measurements
directly from plans, which are printed in 1/1 scale.
All of the masts and yards have a certain conical shape to them.
PHOTO A. In order to achieve this conical shape for the masts, sand down the rod (using a sander), sanding down more as you
get closer to the end where you want to decrease the diameter. Roll the rod so that the wear is the same all round it.
PHOTO B. Repeat the above operation until the diameter is a indicated in the plan.
PHOTO C. To ensure the conical shape of the yards carry out the same operations a above, only this time at both ends of the
rod.
