controller that forms the core of an independ-
ent processor subsystem. It is responsible for
the control and diagnosis of the other func-
tional units of the DVB decoder module.
Commands and data are exchanged via a
serial interface to the TV controller. In addi-
tion, the DVB is responsible for applications
such as the Electronic Program Guide for
DVB programmes. In this case the on screen
display from the OSD component of the
MPEG-2 video decoder is produced. For
communication between the TV controller and
the controller of the online modules, the data
is transferred transparently between the two
serial interfaces.
