2 Cyber Security Management
The cyber security is playing a more and more important role in the automotive sector. In order to ensure the IT
security of vehicles and to prevent unauthorized access from third parties more and more models are being equipped
with so called CAN gateways.
Renault has also equipped some of its models with such a protective module. It shall prevent manipulation attempts
and ensure IT data protection. However, the access of independent workshops to certain settings and functions is
blocked as well, which are essential for the repair work on vehicles.
These instructions demonstrate how to unlock the CAN gateway and to proceed with vehicle diagnostics. The single
steps for enabling the CAN gateway are explained in the following sections.

2.2

Release CAN Gateway

Do the following steps to be able to release the CAN gateway:

1. Registration in the Renault ASOS Portal

2. Get a token
3. Download of token software (OPEN TRUST IDX SCM)
4. Installation of the HGS PassThru Software
5. Purchase and installation of the Renault gateway unlocking module (Unlock Gateway Module)
NOTICE
Some of the above mentioned steps contain components which are subject to charge.
These components have to be purchased onetime.
The single steps are described in detail in the following sections.
2.2.1 Registration in the Renault ASOS Portal
First register yourself in the Renault ASOS Portal to be able to release the CAN gateway.
Proceed as follows to register yourself:
1. Go to https://asos.renault.com to call up the Renault ASOS Portal.
