Electromagnetic Compatibility

Instructions For Use | 13 - Mar - 2020 | Version: H
Medical electrical equipment is subject to stringent electromagnetic compatibility
(EMC) requirements.
Despite the device's high interference immunity and low emitted interference,
compliance with EMC-related requirements is necessary with regard to installa-
tion, installation location, and ambient conditions.
It is therefore important that you observe the related safety messages in this doc-
ument and the EMC brochure included with the device.
According to IEC/CISPR 11, medical electrical equipment is divided into groups
and classes:
Group 1: The device uses or generates RF-energy only for its internal function-
ing.
Group 2: The device generates RF-energy in the frequency range 9 kHz to 400
GHz in the form of electromagnetic radiation and through inductive or capacitive
coupling for purposes of the treatment of material, its examination or analysis.
Class A: The device is not suitable for use in residential environments and such
places that are connected immediately to a low voltage power supply network,
that (also) provides for residential buildings.
Note: The emissions characteristics of this device make it suitable for use in in-
dustrial areas and hospitals (CISPR 11 class A). If it is used in a residential envi-
ronment (for which CISPR 11 class B is normally required) this device might not
offer adequate protection to radio-frequency communication services. The user
might need to take mitigation measures, such as relocating or re-orienting the de-
vice.
Class B: The device is suitable for operation in residential environments and
such places that are connected immediately to a low voltage power supply net-
work, that (also) provides for residential buildings.
WARNING! Use of accessories, transducers and cables other than those speci-
fied or provided by the manufacturer of this device could result in increased elec-
tromagnetic emissions or decreased electromagnetic immunity of this device and
result in improper operation.
WARNING! Portable RF communications equipment (including peripherals such
as antenna cables and external antennas) should be used no closer than 12 inch-
es (30 cm) to any part of the device specified by the manufacturer and covered by
the scope of this document, including cables. Otherwise, degradation of the per-
formance of the device could result.
