NUC Shutter Settings
The non-uniformity correcti on (NUC) of the signal is a complex electronic process,
which requires a uniform temperature body in front of the detector or the objecti ve
lens.
For the convenience of the user, the device has a built-in motorized mechanism for
performing the NUC procedure by automati cally dropping a miniature shutt er in front
of the detector. This process takes less than a second and is accompanied by acousti c
noise resembling a click.
Selecti ng the NUC Shutter Settings changes the NUC shutt er mode between Shutt er
On (internal) and Shutt er Off (external).
In situati ons requiring maximum suppression of the acousti c noise, the device can
operate with shutt er OFF in External shutt er mode, which isolates the operati on of the
motorized mechanism.
When the External shutt er mode is acti vated, the motorized mechanism of the shutt er
is OFF, the Auto NUC functi on is deacti vated.
In that case the functi on of the mechanism should be performed by the user, who must
In that case the functi on of the mechanism should be performed by the user, who must
cover the objecti ve lens, before pressing
a hand or the protecti ve cap, otherwise the image of the display will resemble the
negati ve eff ect of the observed scene.
Upon power on, the device automati cally performs two consecuti ve NUC-cycles.
During this period of ti me it is desirable to cover the objecti ve lens. These acti ons are
necessary only when the External shutt er mode is acti vated.
