Safety
■ Make sure children do not have unsu-
pervised access to the appliance.
Risks when dealing with fridge
freezers
WARNING
Fire hazard!
Improper handling of the appliance can
lead to fire and damage to property.
■ Keep ventilation openings, in the ap-
pliance enclosure or in the built-in
structure, clear of obstruction.
CAUTION
Health hazard!
Contaminated food can cause health
problems.
■ Opening the door for long periods can
cause a significant increase of the
temperature in the compartments of
the appliance.
■ Clean regularly surfaces that can
come in contact with food and acces-
sible drainage systems.
■ Store raw meat and fish in suitable
containers in the refrigerator, so that
it does not come into contact with or
drip onto other food.
■ Two-star frozen-food compartments
are suitable for storing pre-frozen
food, storing or making ice-cream
and making ice cubes.
■ One-, two- and three-star compart-
ments are not suitable for the freez-
ing of fresh food.
■ If the refrigerating appliance is left
empty for long periods, switch off,
defrost, clean, dry, and leave the door
open to prevent mould developing
within the appliance.
Health hazard!
The appliance may not operate proper-
ly if the ambient temperature exceeds
or falls below the specified temperature
range for a prolonged period. This can
then lead to an increase in temperature
inside the appliance.
■ Maintain the intended ambient tem-
perature (see "Intended use" on
page EN-4).
Incorrect handling, insufficient cool-
ing or overlapping items can spoil the
stored food. This could lead to a risk of
food poisoning when consumed!
■ Pay attention to the star classifica-
tions (

er and the resulting storage periods
for freezer products.
■ Note that the shelf life of the frozen
food may be shortened due to a rise
in the temperature inside the appli-
ance (from defrosting, cleaning or
power failure).
■ If there is a mains failure, the frozen
food may remain sufficiently cold
for a few hours. In case of prolonged
power failure or malfunction of the
appliance, remove the stored frozen
food from the appliance and store it
in a sufficiently cool place or in an-
other refrigerating appliance. The
maximum storage time in the event
of a fault is shown on the appliance's
type plate.
■ After a malfunction, check wheth-
er the stored food is still edible. Con-
sume thawed and defrosted foods
immediately, do not refreeze.
■ Use only drinking water to make ice
cubes.
