Controllable Pan/Tilt
CCTV Colour Camera
Please read these operating instructions carefully
prior to installing the unit and keep them for later use.
1 Applications
This colour camera in a dome housing for ceiling
mounting has especially been designed for use in
video surveillance systems (CCTV). It is equipped with
a zoom lens provided with a DC-controlled iris
(DC lens). The camera is protected against fire and
vandalism and is weatherproof (IP 66). To cool the
electronics, a fan is accommodated in the housing.
The camera can be controlled (panning, tilting, dig-
ital zooming) via the remote control RMA-350 from
MONACOR (up to 99 cameras can be controlled).

2 Safety Notes

The camera corresponds to all required directives of
the EU and is therefore marked with
Protect the camera against extreme temperatures
(admissible ambient temperature range -10 °C to
+50 °C).
Never touch the lens with your fingers. For cleaning
it, only use special detergents for optical lenses.
For cleaning the housing, do not use any aggres-
sive detergents or chemicals.
No guarantee claims for the camera and no liability
for any resulting personal damage or material
damage will be accepted if the camera is used for
other purposes than originally intended, if it is not
correctly mounted or connected, or not repaired in
an expert way.
If the camera is to be put out of operation
definitively, take it to a local recycling plant for
disposal which is not harmful to the environ-
ment.

3 Operation

3.1 Removing the transport protection
and the cover
Remove the white plastic transport protection from the
camera housing (4) so that free camera panning is
possible later. For access to the DIP switches (16, 17),
remove the cover (7). The cover is held by two oppo-
site latches at the lower edge.
3.2 Terminating resistor
Set the switch TERMINATION (14) of the camera last
connected at the end of the RS-485 control line to
position ON (even if only one camera is connected).
Thus, the control line is terminated with an internal
resistor. For all other cameras set this switch to OFF.
3.3 Camera address
The camera is factory-set to address 1. To control
several cameras, each camera must be set to an indi-
vidual address with the DIP switches (16).
The address results when adding the binary values
(1, 2, 4 ... 128) of the DIP switches set to position ON.
The easiest way is always to start from the highest
possible binary value and to add the smaller values
until the address results as a sum.

address 1
Important! If the address has been changed with the
operating voltage applied, this must shortly be inter-
rupted, otherwise the camera will not respond to the
new address.
3.4 Mounting and Connection
The complete mounting in shown in fig. 1.
1) Tightly screw the lower part of the housing (2) at a
suitable place of the ceiling. In case of outdoor
installation glue the supplied rubber disk (1) on the
lower part of the housing so that no water may
penetrate the fixing holes and the cable inlet.
2) Connect the camera via the supplied 6-pole plug
(12):
.
a) Connect the control unit (e. g. the remote control
RMA-350 from MONACOR) via a twisted, 2-pole
line (maximum length 1200 m) to the contacts 1
(RS-485 B) and 2 (RS-485 A). Connect all
cameras in parallel to this 2-pole control line.
b) Feed the video signal at the contact 4 via a
screened cable to the video input of the follow-
ing unit (e. g. monitor, camera switcher, video
splitter). Connect the screening to contact 3.
With a cable length of more than 100 m a video
amplifier should be inserted between the camera
and the cable to compensate the level loss by
the long cable.
c) For power supply, connect a regulated 12 V
power supply unit with a permanent rating of
500 mA as a minimum (e. g. PS-1204ST from
MONACOR) to the contact 5 (ground) and the
contact 6 (positive pole).
3) Connect the plug onto the camera. As soon as the
operating voltage is applied, the camera goes to its
starting position.
4) The camera chassis (4) must be placed on the
lower part of the housing (2) so that the arrow (13)
approximately points to the centre of the surveil-
lance area and the camera is capable of moving to
the left and right in a uniform way. Place one of the
supplied sealing rings (3) between the camera
chassis and the lower part of the housing. Tightly
screw the chassis with the three shorter M3 screws
(6) to the lower part.
5) Prior to the further mounting make the adjustments
according to chapters 3.5 and 3.6 before replacing
the cover (7).
6) Place the three rubber distance pieces (8) on the
six thread bolts (5).
7) Lay the second sealing ring (9) between the cam-
era chassis and the housing dome (10) and tightly
screw the dome with the six longer M3 screws (11).
A matching Torx key is supplied.
3.5 Adjusting the lens
The front ring (15) of the lens is used for focus setting,
the ring behind it for zooming. The corresponding
adjusting lever is a locking screw at the same time
which must be released prior to adjustment and re-
tightened after adjustment.

1) Switch on the monitor connected and check all
further adjustments via the monitor.
2) Prior to optical zooming, first set the digital zoom to
minimum with the remote control.
3) Zoom in the object to be monitored with the zoom
adjusting ring.
4) To obtain the optimum resolution, only use the
digital zoom via the remote control in addition to the
optical zoom if the optical zoom is not sufficient.
5) Finally adjust a clear picture with the focus setting
ring.
3.6 Functions AGC, BLC, FLK, ALC/ELC, and
digital zoom
The DIP switches (17) on the rear side of the camera
module are preset as follows:
x 1
x 1,25
x 1,25
AGC
FLK
Digital Zoom
BLC
ALC/ELC
Presetting and functions of the DIP switches
Switches 1 and 2 ON:
The digital zoom is adjustable from x 1 to x 3 with the
remote control. If required, this zoom range can be
increased by the factor x 1.25. To activate this change
of zoom, shortly switch on and off the 12 V operating
voltage.
Switch 3 OFF:
The iris control (ALC) is activated and the electronic
shutter (ELC) deactivated. This setting is required for
the DC lens used and must not be changed.
Switch 4 ON:
The flicker compensation (FLK) is deactivated. Set the
switch to OFF when flickering occurs on the monitor
caused by light sources operated with an AC voltage
of 50 Hz.
Switch 5 ON:
The backlight compensation (BLC) is deactivated. Set
the switch to OFF when objects are in the backlight.
Switch 6 OFF:
The automatic gain control (AGC) is activated. This is
the standard setting for surveillance cameras. For
special applications, the AGC can be deactivated.
