Has there been a fall in the system?
Modifications to the product by the user or other unauthorised person

Check the product labeling (still present, legible)
Check the age based on the year of manufacture

Check that the product is free from excessive dirt
Inspecting the TEUFELBERGER SKC EVO fall arrester
Check the base body, clamping lever and clamping cams for deformation, scratches,
abnormalities, cracks, corrosion, oxidation, thermal and chemical influences
Check the base body, clamping lever and clamping cams for traces of grinding from the
rope or from catching a fall
Check the closing mechanism of the device. It must run smoothly and must not get stuck
Check that all locking and safety elements are present and working properly
Check that all pins and rivets are present and still firmly attached
Check the shock-absorbing lanyard and the two end loops for mechanical, thermal and
chemical damage as well as for UV exposure
Check that the shock absorber has not tripped due to a fall load (no broken threads
between the two lanyards)
Check if the product is complete
Inspecting the installed carabiner
Perform a function test by actuating the locking sleeve and opening the gate
Check that the gate closes immediately when you release it and that the locking sleeve
closes properly
Check the carabiner for deformation, scratches and grooves (no deeper than 1 mm!)
Check the carabiner for signs of wear (no deeper than 1 mm!) and pay particular attention
to areas in contact with ropes, D-rings and other equipment
Check the carabiner for corrosion, oxidation, thermal and chemical influences
Function test
Check that the spring action works properly and that the clamping lever always returns to
its original position (compare with a new device)
Place the fall arrester on the wire rope. Check the sliding on the rope by guiding it with the
carabiner. It must slide freely up and down
Fall test: Grab the carabiner and quickly pull it down (fall direction). The fall arrester must
stop immediately and must not release by itself until the load is removed (when you stop
pulling down)!
