Free-running (Cnt)
The generator is freerunning with the frequency displayed, the
signal is continuously available at the output, provided the sweep
mode was not activated.
Trigger (Trg)
Pushing [Trg] will call the menu "TRIGGER CONTROL". First + or
– slope is selected. The trigger signal is applied to the terminal

TRIG.INP
. By nature this mode is synchronous, upon receipt
of a trigger the output signal will start at zero. Depending on the
duration of the trigger signal one or more complete signal periods
will be generated, periods started will be always completed. This
way also bursts can be generated.
The trigger mode is available for all signal
functions (waveforms) within their frequency
limits. For sine, square wave, triangle and arbitrary the
STOP
upper limit is 500 kHz.
STOP
A single signal period may also be triggered by pushing
"pulse" while in the "TRIGGER CONTROL" menu.
TiPP
Triggering on the rising edge
The positive slope of the trigger will start the sine wave, the last
sine period will be completed after the negative trigger slope.
Triggering on the falling edge
The negative slope of the trigger signal will start the sine, the last
sine period will be completed after the rising slope of the trigger.

Burst mode
Burst can be generated either by an external trigger signal or via
an interface. If a burst is programmed in the arbitrary mode the
trigger signal must be short than the signal period so that only one
period is generated.
Gated mode
By pressing (Gat) the "GATE CONTROL" menu is called. Also
here first + or – slope is selected.
In gated mode the output signal is controlled by a gate signal applied

to the TRIG.INP
on the front panel. This mode is asynchronous,
i.e. the output signal may start at any time during its period.
Gate (High)
The output signal will be present as long as the gate signal will be
High (TTL levels). The picture illustrates how the signal at any level.
Gate (Low) The output signal will be present as long as the gate
signal is low (TTL levels).
