Problem
There is no sound going
to equipment attached
to the SCART
connectors.
Recordings made on the
VCR are in black and
white.
The picture sometimes
breaks up into "blocks".
RESETTING YOUR SET-TOP BOX
You can reset your set-top box if necessary.
It will return to the state it was in when you
plugged it in for the first time.
IMPORTANT: All the settings you have
changed and any User lists you have created
will be lost when you carry out a full reset.
If you wish to carry out a full reset, press Menü
to display the Main menu.

Possible cause
(i) You have set Auto-
handling to on on the
Dolby Digital screen
and a Dolby Digital
audio stream has been
automatically selected.
(ii) Auto-handling is off
but you have used the
Audio option screen to
select a Dolby Digital
stream.
Both of these will cause
the audio output at the
SCART connectors to
be muted.
You have set S-Video
on the TV settings
screen, but your VCR is
not S-Video-compatible.
(i) If you have other
devices connected to
your dish, there may not
be enough signal
strength for the set-up.
(ii) Objects such as trees
or houses may be
affecting the signal
quality.
(iii) Faulty connectors or
leads may be affecting
the signal.
(iv) If the break-up is
temporary but often,
there may be interference
caused by other electrical
items in your home.

Suggested remedy
Use the Audio option screen to choose a
normal audio stream (see page 18).
Set RGB (if you have an RGB TV) or CVBS.
(i) Try connecting your satellite dish directly
to your set-top box. If this stops the
picture breaking up, then there is not
enough signal strength to use additional
devices.
(ii) You may need to improve your satellite
dish installation – consult a professional
installation engineer.
(iii) Try new connectors/leads.
(iv) Consult a qualified electrician.
Highlight Configuration then press OK to
display the Configuration menu.
Highlight Reset then press OK to display the
Reset menu.
Highlight Reset all then press OK.
To confirm the full reset, press the red button.
If you decide against resetting at any point,
press the Exit button.
After the set-top box has reset itself, you will
have to choose the Language again, and
various other settings, as described on
page 24. Then your set-top box will carry out
its Network scan.
