User information for use of forestry hatchet STIHL AX 6 P,
universal forestry axe STIHL AX 15 P, cleaving axe STIHL
AX 20 PC
Intended use: Axe heads are forged for cutting, cleaving or carving and
are exclusively designed for working wood.
Do not use axe heads as sledgehammers or as hammers
for hitting metal wedges.
If an axe is hammered too hard on plastic or aluminum
cleaving wedges, the handle may distort or break and the
axe may be damaged. Hazards may arise as a result of the
broken tool.
Be vigilant at all times for any modifications to the tool.
A modified tool should be replaced immediately.
When splitting wood always try to strike the wooden block
in the center. If the axe gets stuck in the wood: Never push,
hit or lever the handle sideways! The handle or part of the
edge may break off. Instead, move the handle vertically
upwards and downwards and carefully remove the axe.
During forestry work, all kinds of fragments may be
produced. These fragments can cause eye injuries.
Wear close-fitting safety glasses.
Suitable safety glasses tested to standard EN 166 or
national standards and bearing the corresponding mark
are available to buy.
The safety glasses must be in flawless condition.
Wear safety boots made of rugged material with a grippy
sole and steel toe-cap.
The boots must be in flawless condition.
Before starting work the axe must be checked to make sure it is in perfect
condition, that the axe head is fixed and secure on the handle, as well as
that the connection between axe head and handle is undamaged.
Caution! Handle and axe edge must not have any cracks, chips or other
damage! Do not work with damaged or modified tools! Damaged or
modified tools must be disposed of immediately!
