7. Removing the hardware
The following information should be observed for the safe operation of the PCAN-USB
adapter under Windows 2000:

If the PCAN-USB adapter is connected with the PC, the icon "Remove or discard
hardware" can be found in the task bar.

In order to remove the PCAN-USB adapter, the hardware is deactivated in the dialog
box that follows.
■
If the PCAN-USB adapter is deactivated, the red LED on the adapter goes out. The
adapter can now be disconnected from the PC.
Under Windows 98, the following must be observed:

In order to be able to remove the PCAN-USB adapter, the red LED on the adapter
must not be blinking. A blinking LED indicates data transfer between the USB module
and the driver. Removal during active operation could cause the system to crash.
