harmful to fish and plants.
The ideal nutrient supply for aquatic plants is a combination of the liquid fer-
tilizers sera florena and sera flore daydrops plus fertilizer tablets sera flo-
renette A in the aquarium, or sera pond florena concentrate and sera pond
florenette Tabs in garden ponds. The ideal iron level in the aquarium is
0.5 mg/l. Please note that the dosage stated in the directions for use is
merely a directional value. The actual dosage rhythm depends on many
factors, such as the number and species of aquatic plants and the CO
supply. Therefore we recommend using the sera iron-Test (Fe) for monitor-
ing the nutrient level.
Directions for use: Shake reagent 2 well before using!
1. Rinse the measurement vial several times with the water to be tested,
then fill to the 5 ml mark. Dry the vial on the outside.
2. Add 2 heaping measurement spoons (white) of reagent 1, then shake
lightly. The reagent does not dissolve completely.
3. Add 5 drops of reagent 2, then shake the vial lightly until the liquid is
evenly distributed.
4. Compare the colors after 10 minutes. Place the vial on the color chart and
compare the colors from a position above at natural daylight. Avoid
direct sunlight.
5. Cleaning: Clean the vial thoroughly with tap water before and after each
test.

The copper test is carried out in case of unexplainable dying of fish and
when treating with copper-containing preparations. Neutralization of cop-
per ions is achieved with sera aqutan or sera toxivec.
Directions for use: Shake reagent bottles well before using!
1. Rinse the measurement vial several times with the water to be tested,
then fill to the 10 ml mark. Dry the vial on the outside.
2. Add 7 drops each of reagents 1 and 2.
3. Shake the vial until the liquid is evenly distributed.
4. Compare the colors after 5 minutes. Place the vial on the color chart and
compare the colors from a position above under natural daylight. Avoid
direct sunlight.
5. Is the color dark blue, the sample contains more than 1 mg/l copper.
Repeat the measurement with a diluted sample.
6. To do so, rinse the vial carefully with the water to be tested and fill to the
5 ml mark. Top up to the 10 ml mark with distilled water. Use sera aqua-
dest or a pharmaceutical grade distilled water. Repeat the test as men-
tioned with points 2. to 4.
7. Compare the colors once again with the color chart. Please do not forget
to read the value given in the line "5 ml + 5 ml!"
8. Cleaning: Clean the vial thoroughly with tap water before and after each
test.

Ornamental algae, corals and other invertebrates permanently require suffi-
cient calcium amounts for their healthy growth. The calcium level in natur-
al saltwater is about 410 mg/l. Ideal calcium levels in saltwater aquariums are
between 400 and 450 mg/l.
You should therefore regularly check the calcium level in your saltwater
aquarium. This can quickly and easily be done with the sera calcium-Test kit
(Ca). sera calcium plus safely increases the calcium level in your saltwater
aquarium.
Directions for use: Shake reagent bottles well before using!
1. Rinse the measurement vial several times with the water to be tested,
then fill to the 5 ml mark. Dry the vial on the outside.
2. Add 8 drops of reagent 1. Shake the vial until the liquid is evenly distrib-
uted. A possible cloudiness does not affect the accuracy of the test.
3. Add a level-filled measurement spoon (white) of reagent 2, whirl the vial
gently (do not shake) until the powder has dissolved.
4. Add reagent 3 drop by drop while counting the drops, release the
reagent bottle from finger pressure after every 5 drops, allowing air to
be drawn into the bottle. Shake vial after every drop until the color turns
from pink via violet into blue and remains stable for at least 30 seconds
whilst whirling the vial occasionally. Reagent 3 refills (15 ml/0.5 fl.oz.) are
available separately.
5. The number of drops used from reagent 3, multiplied by 20 is the calci-
um level in mg/l, e.g., 15 drops of reagent times 20 = 300 mg calcium per
liter.
6. Cleaning: Clean the vial thoroughly with tap water before and after each
test.
chlorine-Test (fresh and saltwater)
Cl
C Corrosive
In many areas, chlorine is added to tap water as a disinfectant. Chlorine
destroys the filter bacteria and is very corrosive towards the fish's gills and
mucous membranes. You can easily and reliably check for chlorine in the tap
water by using the sera chlorine-Test. sera toxivec immediately removes
harmful chlorine and chloramine. sera aqutan makes the water fish friend-
ly; sera nitrivec activates biological filtration with useful bio cultures.
Directions for use: Shake reagent bottle well before using!
1. Rinse the measurement vial several times with the water to be tested,
then fill to the 10 ml mark. Dry the vial on the outside.
2. Add 8 drops reagent and shake the vial until the liquid is evenly distrib-
uted.
3. Compare the colors immediately: Place the vial on a white surface and
compare the colors from a position above under natural daylight. Avoid
direct sunlight.
4. If no color change occurs, the water is chlorine-free. Harmful chlorine
levels from 0.02 mg/l will result in yellow coloration, with higher chlorine
levels the color becomes reddish.
5. Cleaning: Clean the vial thoroughly with tap water before and after each
test.
The following tests are not included in the sera aqua-test box. They can be
purchased separately from your specialty retailer.
