Q . POWER SWITCH— S witches the SM-900 on-off.
R . MAIN FUSE— P rotects the amplifier from electrical faults.
Replace a blown fuse ONLY with a fuse of the type/rating
specified on the rear panel of your amplifier to protect
your amplifier and maintain warranty coverage. Carry
spare fuses!
S . POWER CORD SOCKET— C onnect the included power
cord to a properly wired AC electrical outlet in accor-
dance with the voltage and frequency ratings specified
on the rear panel of your amplifier.
T . STEREO / MONO (BRIDGE) SWITCH— S elects the core
mode of operation for the SM-900 power amplifiers.
Each mode uses different speaker outputs, master volumes
and effects loop jacks. Turn OFF the SM-900 while switching
modes and connections:

STEREO MODE: The power amplifiers operate sepa-
rately as left and right channels. In Stereo Mode, use the
Left and Right Speaker Outputs {U & V}, both Master
Volumes {M & N}, and "L" and "R" Effects Loop Returns {Y}
for stereo effects.

MONO (BRIDGE) MODE: The power amplifiers are
bridged together to operate as one monolithic, power
block. In Mono Mode, use the Bridge Speaker Output {W},
the inner Master Volume {M} alone, and the Mono Effects
Loop Return {Y}.
U/V . STEREO MODE SPEAKER OUTPUTS— T he SM-900 fur-
nishes both 1/4" and Speakon® speaker connections. Use
the Speakon® jacks whenever possible to take advantage
of superior efficiency and locking connectors. All three
jacks on each side {U & V} are full range and wired in
parallel. Read the Speaker Guidelines on the next page
before connecting speakers.
W . MONO (BRIDGE) MODE SPEAKER OUTPUT— O ne
Speakon® speaker output jack is available in Mono
(Bridge) Mode. Read Speaker Guidelines on the next
page before connecting speakers.
X . SPEAKER FUSES— P rotects your speakers from electri-
cal faults. Replace a blown fuse ONLY with a fuse of the
type/rating specified on the rear panel of your amplifier
to protect your equipment and maintain warranty cover-
age. Carry spare fuses!

Y . EFFECTS LOOP— Multipurpose jacks—Effects Send pro-
vides a preamp output and includes onboard tone shap-
ing; output level is controlled by Gain {B}. The Effects
Return jacks provide power amp inputs for each mode of
operation {T}. Effects Return (wet) signals are mixed with
the onboard preamp (dry) signal in any ratio set by the
Effects Blend control {L}.

Use shielded instrument (mono) cable with stan-
dard 1/4" plugs with the Effects Loop jacks. Some equip-
ment may require special cable/adapter such as a stereo
effects device with only one stereo output (requires a
stereo-to-dual-mono cable).
The effects loop on your SM-900 is located on a "side
chain" circuit, a design used in studio equipment to iso-
late the effects from the main circuit. This provides the
full sound of your instrument AND the diversity of your
external effects to come through. The effects circuit is
also located after the gain stages in the preamp signal
path to bypass the noise associated with effects inline
before the preamp.
• EFFECTS DEVICES— Connect the SM-900 Effects Send
to your effects device input and the effect's output(s) to
either the Mono Return or Stereo Return jacks according
to the SM-900's Mode of Operation {T}. If you are using
mono effects in Stereo Mode, the Mono Return can be
used. NOTE: On your effects device—set any wet/dry
control fully to WET to prevent phasing problems and set
any input level control to +4dB, or 0dB if the unit is being
overdriven.
• MULTIPLE AMPLIFIERS— For additional output, you can
connect an auxiliary power amp to your SM-900's Effects
Send output (Gain on your SM-900 will affect the volume
levels of both amplifiers). NOTE: If you wish to use an
SWR® amp as an auxiliary power amp, use Mono Effects
Return as the input and turn the Effects Blend control to
the maximum WET position.
• ACCOMPANIMENT— Connect a CD player or drum
machine to either the Mono Return or Stereo Return jacks
according to the Mode of Operation {T}. Adjust accom-
paniment volume from the device and with the Effects
Blend control {L}.
Z . TUNER OUT— P lug your instrument tuner in here.
