(e.g. 'ping 172.16.5.241') and pressing <ENTER> you should
get a number of timeout messages. If you get a reply instead
of timeout messages there is already a PC or other device
connected that has the same IP address like the Smartline
PDA Detector 2800. In this case please remove that PC or
device or change it's IP address or change the detector's IP
address and then repeat this procedure.
Switch on the Smartline PDA Detector 2800.

then entering "ping" followed by the detector's IP address
(e.g. 'ping 172.16.5.241') and pressing <ENTER> you should
get a reply from the detector. If you get timeout messages
instead of a reply there is communication problem between
PC and the Smartline PDA Detector 2800. In this case
please check the PC's and detector's IP addresses and the
ethernet patch cable that connect's the detector with the PC.
Then repeat this procedure.
The PDA Detector 2800 comes factory configured without a flow cell.
Before operating the detector it is necessary to install an appropriate
KNAUER flow cell. A list of available flow cells can be found on page 33.

Installation of the Flow Cell

1. Swing open the detector's front door.
2. Referring to Fig. 10, attach the flow cell (3) to the flow cell holder
(1) using the two knurled screws (7) and make sure that the outlet is
on the upper side and that the fixing hole on the back side of the
cell meets the corresponding metal pin (5) of the flow cell holder.
(KNAUER analytical flow cells are marked with 'I' at the inlet and 'O'
at the outlet. For this type of cells inlet and outlet cannot be
exchanged because this would result in increased noise. For all
other cells inlet and outlet are identical.)
3. Now install the two short fiber optical cables (4) connecting the
detector's and the flow cell's connectors for fiber optical cables
(2,6). All connections should only be tightened manually.
The flow cell can also be placed outside the detector by just exchanging
the fiber optical cables with longer ones.
For best results, the front door should be closed during operation of the
detector. Flow cells for 1/4" connectors should not be placed in the cell
holder (alternatively the door must be left open).
