TaHoma®
1. IntRoDuCtIon
TaHoma® is made up of 2 elements:
• The TaHoma® unit, which is connected via a LAN socket (Ethernet RJ 45) to a compatible
Internet router or broadband modem router (*). The unit is used to control all of the devices
incorporating io-homecontrol® communications technology in your home (**) and is sold to you
by a professional.
• A subscription for password-protected access to a secure web site (https). This subscription
must be taken out on-line at www.somfy.com. The subscriber creates an account and selects
options for his TaHoma® subscription. Somfy's general terms and conditions of service for
TaHoma® are available at www.somfy.com.
(*) An exhaustive list of compatible products, internet routers and modems can be found at www.
somfy.com.
(**) io-homecontrol®: Remote control system developed by Somfy and its partners in the
io-homecontrol® association. This system controls motors and automatic devices in the home
incorporating this technology (radio protocol). For more information about io-homecontrol®
technology, please visit www.io-homecontrol.com. The TaHoma® unit is compatible with certain
devices incorporating RTS (Radio Technology Somfy) under certain conditions, details of which can
be found at www.somfy.com.
2. safetY
2.1. safety and liability
Please read this guide carefully before installing and using this product.
This Somfy product must be installed by a home motorisation and automation professional for whom
this guide is intended.
Moreover, installers must comply with the standards and legislation in force in the country where the
product is installed, and inform their customers of the operating and maintenance conditions for the
product.
Any use outside the shere of application defi ned by Somfy is forbidden. This invalidates the warranty
and discharges Somfy of all liability, as does any failure to comply with the instructions given herein.
Never begin installing without fi rst checking the compatibility of this product with the associated
devices and accessories.

2.2. Specifi c safety instructions

In accordance with EN 12453 relating to safety in use of electrically powered doors and gates,
the use of the TaHoma® unit to control an automatic garage door or gate not visible to the user
requires that a photoelectric cell type safety device be installed on the automatic device. If these
instructions are not complied with, Somfy does not accept any liability for any damage that may be
caused.
To avoid damaging the product:
1) Avoid impacts!
2) Do not drop!
3) Do not spray or immerse in liquid.
4) Do not use abrasive products or solvents to clean the
product. Its surface can be cleaned with a soft, dry cloth.
5) Do not open the device.
6) Do not place it on the outside of the building or run the
Ethernet cable outside.
7) The product can be completely switched off by
disconnecting the power supply. Please ensure that the
power supply is always accessible during use.
8) The Ethernet interface must never be connected directly
to a telephone socket. The Ethernet interface is designed
to be connected to communication terminals such as
modems, switches, hubs, etc. only.
