MAINTENANCE
We recommend that you clean the pump and shaft frequently to avoid any loss in
performance or damage to the motor. Ensure algae, and other marine fauna, do not
foul the blades of the impeller or the guard as this will cause excessive noise and
will damage the motor. The pump comes apart easily for maintenance by following
the steps below.
1. Switch off the power at the mains.
2. Remove the magnets from the outside of the aquarium.
3. Remove pump from aquarium.
4. Gently prise open the pump mounting brackets to release the pump motor. Make sure the
mounting bracket bushes do not fall off and become lost.
5. Twist the front of the impeller guard anti-clockwise to open. Useful tip: if your pump is
covered heavily with coralline algae, soak in a mild acid, such as white vinegar, and scrub off
algae before attempting to open. Rinse with fresh water before use.
6. Remove impeller, and clean in fresh water.
7. Clean all other parts and inspect for wear and tear. The anti-vibration rubbers will need to
be replaced from time to time as they age and become stiff which will reduce their ability to
stop vibration.
TROUBLESHOOTING.
Problem: The pump is not working
Check power is switched on.
Check all connections.
Check pump for debris.
Check impeller and impeller shaft bush is clean and clear. Return to retailer for inspection.
Problem: Pumps do not run in sync when in master/slave mode
Ensure pumps are not set to R Mode. Press MODE/NIGHT until you get back to your desired
setting. This should re-sync the pumps. If not, turn off and turn on again.
Problem: Sparks can be seen coming out of the DC input and DC plug
DO NOT Connect or disconnect cables with the mains power turned on (see "Installation"
instructions above).
Problem: There is a whining noise coming from the pump
Due to the nature of the high speed and powerful flow of the DC motors, some whining noise
can be heard and is completely normal.
Problem: I can hear a clicking noise and my pump is not running correctly
Check impeller shaft for damage. Replace if necessary.
