5.5. Electrical system

The respective local and VDE regulations must be com-
plied with when choosing and installing the electrical
leads as well as connecting the motor. The motor must be
protected with a circuit breaker. The motor must be con-
nected according to the wiring diagram. Note the direction
of rotation! In the event of wrong direction of rotation the
machine does not perform as indicated and it can become
damaged under unfavourable circumstances.
Electric shock hazard!
Faulty dealing with current may jeopardize your life!
All pumps with free cable ends must be connected by
a qualified electrician.
A professional inspection prior to commissioning
must ensure that the required electrical protective
measures are available. The grounding, earthing,
isolating transformer, and fault current or voltage
fault protection switch must meet the requirements
of the responsible power plant.
The voltage specified in the Technical Data must cor-
respond to the available mains voltage.
Make sure that the electrical connections are in a
flood-safe area and are protected from moisture. The
power cord and plug must be checked for damage
before use.
The end of the connecting cable must not be sub-
merged in water, as this may allow water to infiltrate
into the motor connection room.
The electrical connection must be carried out in accor-
dance with the local regulations of the utility company or
VDE. The supply voltage and frequency are indicated on
the type plates on the pump and the switching device.
The voltage tolerance must be within +6% to - 10% of
the mains voltage. It must be ensured that the data list-
ed on the type plates is in agreement with the existing
power supply. The lifting units require no additional motor
protection.
The pump motors have a built-in thermal switches in the
motor windings, which shut off the pump via the connect-
ed switchgear in case the motor overheats or is overload-
ed. No additional motor protection is required.
5.5.1. Electronic PCS controller (alternating current)
The PCS controller supplied with the system regulates
and monitors operation of the disposal unit and reports
any faults that occur.
The system is delivered ready to plug in. After plugging
it into the socket, the system is ready for operation. All
parameters required for correct operation are preset. The
green operating LED lights up to indicate that the system
is ready for operation.

Controller functions:

The controller operates with a pneumatic measuring sys-
tem. When the water level in the tank rises, the fill level
is detected via a pitot tube in the tank and transmitted via
a pressure hose to the measuring sensor in the controller.
To ensure correct long term function, it is essential that
the pressure hose from the pitot tube to the controller is
installed with a continuous rise without loops.
If mains voltage is present at the controller, you can see
that the controller is ready for operation in automatic
mode because the green LED lights up.
If the factory-set switch-on level is reached, the pump is
activated by the controller. The green LED flashes slowly
while the pump is operating.
In order to fully drain the collection tank during each
pumping process and prevent deposits in the tank, a delay
time of 4 seconds is programmed in the controller. This
delay time begins when the switch-off point is reached
and is indicated by the green LED flashing rapidly. After
the delay time has elapsed, the controller switches the
pump off again.
The controller has a red LED to indicate faults. The follow-
ing messages are indicated via this LED:
Red LED flashes 5x/second – high water alarm
Red LED flashes 1x/second – thermal sensor/motor
protection
The factory-set alarm level has been exceeded. This can
be triggered by a temporary but powerful inflow into the
system, for example. In this case, the alarm is reset au-
tomatically when the inflow decreases and the pump
reduces the water level to below the alarm level. If this
condition persists for a longer period of time (>5 minutes),
please contact HOMA Customer Service. In this case, no
more water should be supplied to the tank.
Red LED lights up continuously – maximum runtime
exceeded
The disposal unit is designed in such a way that the pump
can drain the collection tank in approx. 30 seconds when
the switch-on point is reached under normal operating
conditions (delivery head and inflow volume correspond
to the system characteristic curve).
A permanent inflow into the system can cause this run-
time to be exceeded. As the pump is not designed for
continuous operation, if it does run without stopping for
60 seconds, the controller will signal the excessive run-
time by a constant signal from the red LED. The controller
will stop the pump for two seconds after this time has
elapsed, then start it again.
This function is intended to automatically eliminate any
malfunction caused, for example, by insufficient ventila-
tion of the system or clogging of the impeller. If this con-
dition persists for a longer period of time (>5 minutes),
please contact HOMA Customer Service. In this case, no
more water should be supplied to the tank.
