The lithium-ion battery is protected against deep discharge
by the "Electronic Cell Protection (ECP)". When the battery
is discharged, the power tool is switched off by means of a
protective circuit: The application tool no longer rotates.
Do not continue to press the On/Off switch after the
u
power tool has automatically switched off. The battery
can be damaged.
Removing the Battery (see figure A)
To remove the battery (6), press the battery release but-
tons (7) and pull the battery out of the power tool. Do not
use force to do this.
Battery charge indicator
The three green LEDs on the battery charge indicator (9) in-
dicate the state of charge of the battery (6). For safety reas-
ons, it is only possible to check the state of charge when the
power tool is not in operation.
To display the state of charge, press and hold the battery
charge indicator button (8) when the power tool is switched
off.

Changing the Tool (see figures B1−B2)
Before removing, allow the blade to cool down. The
u
blade can become warm during operation.
– Loosen the knurled screw (1) and push the protective
guard (3) all the way to the top.
– Use a screwdriver to turn the blade (10) until a hole
opens in the blade.
– Insert a thin, stable object (e.g. a nail) in the open hole in
order to block the blade.
– Undo the screw for securing the blade (11) in rotational
direction ➊.
– Remove the object used to block the blade.
– Lift the blade (10) slightly and pull it down and out.
– Place the blade on the tool holder with the ground edge
facing outwards. Ensure that the blade clicks into place in
the tool holder.
– Retighten the screw for securing the blade (11) in rota-
tional direction ➋.
– Adjust the protective guard (3) to the material thickness
to be cut and tighten the knurled screw (1).
Adjusting the Protective Guard
Never use the power tool without the protective
u
guard.
To protect your fingers from injuries, the protective
guard (3) must be adjusted to the material thickness being
cut before each work step.
Bosch Power Tools
To do this, loosen the knurled screw (1). Adjust the protect-
ive guard (3) (in the range 2−11 mm) so that it loosely rests
against the material to be cut. Retighten the knurled screw.
Adjust the protective guard (3) to the bottom position after
each use as well as before all work on the power tool.
Operation

Starting Operation

Inserting the Battery
Insert the charged battery (6) into the battery receptacle,
making sure you feel it engage and that it is securely locked
in place.
Switching On and Off
To switch on the power tool, slide the on/off switch (4) for-
wards so that I appears on the switch.
To switch off the power tool, slide the on/off switch (4)
backwards so that 0 appears on the switch.

Practical advice

≥66 %
Remove the battery from the power tool before carry-
u
ing out work on the power tool (e.g. maintenance,
≥33 %
changing tool, etc.). The battery should also be re-
<33 %
moved for transport and storage. There is risk of injury
Reserve
from unintentionally pressing the on/off switch.
Do not load the power tool so heavily that it comes to a
u
stop.
Never touch the blade during operation.
u
The cutting performance of the power tool depends on the
materials to be cut and on the state of charge of the battery.
Excessive feed significantly reduces the performance of the
power tool, depending on the battery charge.
The guide runner (12) must be aligned parallel to the cutting
surface and must not become wedged during cutting.
Always keep the blade clean and free of material residue.
Improper use of the blade will cause it to become blunt.
Thin materials, such as fabrics, can be pulled into the power
tool during cutting and become wedged. To avoid this, do
not push too hard when working with these materials, in or-
der to ensure an optimal cut. Keep the material taut whilst
cutting and cut slowly.
Do not remove material that has been inserted during opera-
tion. Switch off the power tool with the on/off switch (4) be-
forehand.
Optimal cutting results are best achieved through practice.
Cut Control cutting-line mark
The red line on the protective guard (3) (Cut Control cutting-
line mark (2)) indicates the cutting line of the blade (10).
This enables you to guide the power tool precisely along the
cutting line marked on the material.
Temperature-dependent overload protection
In normal conditions of use, the power tool cannot be over-
loaded. If the power tool is overloaded or not kept within the
