Auto shut-off

To save battery life, the laser has an automatic shut-off, and will turn off automat-
ically in 1 hour unless overridden. To override the auto shut-off, press and hold
the LINE button when turning the unit on. The green LED will flash rapidly to indi-
cate the auto shut-off feature has been overridden.

Low battery indicator

When the batteries are low, the red LED will flash rapidly. It can be used for up
to one hour during low battery indication before it will turn off completely.
Attachment
Tripods
1/4" X 20 tripod mount: Use the threaded hole located on the bottom of
the laser or the bottom of the universal mount to attach it to a camera tripod.
Wall: The universal mount can also be attached to a wall using a drywall screw
(at least 2"/5cm long).
Floor: Place the laser directly on the floor; or, to see the "down" plumb beam
spot, put the laser on the universal mount and use the square for balance.
Calibration control
We recommend that you check the instrument's accuracy before initial use; then
periodically to ensure proper reference.

1. Set up the CPL50 about 6" (15 cm) away from a wall (Surface 1) and 12-
15 ft. (4 m) from another wall (Surface 2).
2. Turn on the unit to the automatic level setting (far right/unlocked position).
3. Carefully mark the center where the lines cross on Surface 1. This is A1.
4. Rotate the laser 180 degrees and mark where the lines cross on Surface 2
(this is B1).
5. Move the laser 6" away from Surface 2 and mark where the lines cross on
Surface 2 (this is B2). (See right illustration)
6. Rotate the laser 180 degrees and mark where the lines cross on Surface 1
(this is A2).
7. Measure the distance between A1 and A2, and also between B1 and B2.
If the distances are the same, the laser is in calibration. If the difference
between the two sets of marks is greater than 1/8" (3 mm), the laser is out of
calibration.
For more information on calibration, contact the distributor or local service
center.
To check plumb
1. Choose a door jamb with a minimum
of 8 ft (2.5 m) clearance on each side
of the door.
2. Turn on the CPL50 to auto level setting.
3. With your laser at point (A), make two
marks on the floor. Make the first mark 8
ft (2.5 m) from point (A), on the lower door jamb. Mark this point (B).
4. Make a second mark 16 ft (5 m) from point (A). Make this point (C).
5. Without moving the laser, make a third mark on the door header. Make
this point (D).
6. Now move the laser to point (C). Exactly align the beam with point (B).
Notice where the beam falls at point (D). If the difference between the point
(D) and the laser beams exceeds 1/16" (1.5mm), the laser is out of cali-
bration.
