9 ARCNET interfaces
9.1 Coaxial Interface (-K or KOAX)
SH ARC-PCIu-K and SH ARC-PCIe-K as well as coaxial interface
modules which are ordered in addition to SH ARC-PCI104 have a BNC
plug for the connection of coaxial cables.
The coaxial interface module is only activated when a valid bit rate
(2.5 – 10 MBit/s) is selected and the controller COM20022 is operated in
Non Backplane Mode. The coaxial interface is provided for operation with
RG-62 coaxial cables.
If necessary the ARCNET interfaces of the SH ARC-PCIu-K and the SH
ARC-PCIe-K have to be externally terminated, e.g. by a T connector and
a 93 ohm resistor at a BNC plug. With the ARCNET interface modules the
93 ohm termination can be switched to the coaxial line through the dual
DIP switch. By default the termination is switched off.

9.2 RS-485/EIA-485 Interface (-R or RS485)
SH ARC-PCIu-R and SH ARC-PCIe-R as well as RS485 interface
modules which are ordered in addition to SH ARC-PCI104 have a EIA-
485 interface with a 9 pole D-sub plug. The interfaces feature a fail safe
prohibiting undefined conditions on the bus.
The fail safe circuit and a 115 ohm termination can be switched to the
EIA-485 line through the dual DIP switch. By default the termination is
switched off.
