8.5 Termination

If interfaces with coaxial, EIA-485- or twisted pair connector are situated
at the end of a network cable they have to be terminated. You find hints
on this in the chapter "ARCNET interfaces".

8.6 LEDs

8.6.1 LEDs of the PC slot cards (SH ARC-PCIu and SH ARC-PCIe)
LED
PC activity (red)
Coax mode
(green)
Receive (yellow)
The LED indicates any write/read accesses by the
host PC to the card.
This LED is activated if the ARCNET controller is
configured for a bit rate ≥ 2.5 Mbit/s, the controller
is transmitting and in default mode (= non
Backplane). When the LED is inactive, no data are
sent via the coax interface. Note: The HIT is
specified only for operation at 2.5 Mbit/s.
The LED indicates any activity on the ARCNET
receiving channel. As both the coaxial and the RS-
485 interface receive the sent signal, too, the LED
is also activated by the transmitting signal. If the
ARCNET runs in a stable state, the LED is
continuously active. If reconfigurations appear, the
LED flickers periodically.
