8 TEDS transducer identification
TEDS (Transducer Electronic Data Sheet) allows you to store the sensor char­
acteristic values in a chip as per IEEE1451.4. The U2B can be supplied with
TEDS transducer identification, which is then mounted in the sensor housing,
connected and supplied with data by HBM before delivery. If a German Cali­
bration Service calibration is also ordered, the results of the calibration are
stored in the TEDS chip.
The TEDS transducer identification module is executed in a zero-wire configu­
ration. The connection is made so that there is no need for an additional cable
to transmit information to the amplifier. Whether your order includes TEDS
transducer identification or not, the sensor is always fitted with six connecting
cables. Please note that for TEDS to function correctly, all extensions must be
executed in a 6-wire configuration.
If a suitable amplifier is connected (e.g. QuantumX from HBM), the amplifier
electronics will read the TEDS chip and parameterization will then be imple­
mented automatically, without any intervention required by the user.
The chip content can be edited and configured with suitable hardware and soft­
ware. This can be implemented, e.g. with the Quantum Assistant or even the
DAQ software CATMAN from HBM. Please comply with the operating instruc­
tions of these products.
