During installation and when operating the transducer, please be aware of the
maximum parasitic forces/lateral forces (caused by skewed application), bend­
ing moments (caused by eccentric force introduction) and torques, see Chap­
ter 11 "Specifications", page 30 and the maximum permissible load-carrying
capacity of any (customer side) force application parts that may be used.
Also note the maximum load-carrying capacity of the fittings, tension/compres­
sion bars, bolts and knuckle eyes that are used.
6.3

Mounting the U2B

6.3.1

Mounting with tension and compression bars

In this mounting variant, the transducer is mounted on a construction element
by means of tension/compression bars, and can measure tensile and compres­
sive forces. Alternating loads are also correctly recorded if the transducer is
mounted without axial play. The sensor can also be used for static measure­
ments, without securing the components mounted on the sensor with a locknut.
Locking is always necessary for dynamic alternating loads. This is particularly
necessary if the measurements to be performed require the force transducer to
be loaded alternately with tensile and compressive forces.
For dynamic alternating loads, the upper and lower threaded connectors must
be pre-stressed to above the maximum force to be measured and then locked
in place, or the locknut must be fitted at a suitable torque.
1. Installation and locking with initial stress:
- Screw on the locknuts of the upper and lower threaded connectors and
tighten the threaded connectors.
- Pre-stress the transducer to min. 110% of the operating load in the ten­
sile direction. The transducer itself can be used to measure this force
The operating load is the maximum force to be measured. The trans­
ducer can be loaded at 110% of the nominal (rated) force for mounting.
- Hand-tighten the locknut.
