Positioning
On the bottom of the CD player you will find two screws wh ich lock
the drive mechanism of the unit to protect it during transportation.
Remove these screws and the plastic collars and keep them in a
safe place for an eventual later transport.
The CD player must always stand horizontally on a flat, solid sur-
face, not on a nnat or anything similar. If siting the player in a cup-
board or a wall unit, always allow a minimum space of 3 cm above
the player so as not to interfere with the cooling air of the player.
Never stand the player in persistent direct sunlight or near any
heat source. Under no circunnstances, stand the player directly
upon a high-power
,
amplifier, as such an amplifier gives off a sub-
stantial amount of heat. If you compose your own HiFi system
(stacked components), you should preferably site the CD playerat
the bottom.
In the case the unit is too wide, the wooden side panels can be
taken oft by removing the lateral screws. Do not forget to screw the
screws back into unit.
Connections
Mains Connection
First connect the mains lead to the socket on the back of the set.
Connect the CD player only to a 220VAC (GB: 240' mains sup-

Additional Information for Units Sold in Great Britain
We recommend that a 13 amp
plug fitted with a 3 amp fuse be used. The brown
lead must be connected to the live pin (marked "L" or "brown" or "red") and the blue
lead to the neutral pin (marked "N" or "blue" or "bleck"). On ne account should either
wire be connected to the earth pin (marked "E" or "green/yellow"). lt other mains
plugs are used, ensure that they are protected with a 5 amp fuse.
Connection to an Amplifier
For this purpose, two pairs of phono sockets are provided on the
CD player: one AF output with fixed level and one with variable
output level.
When using the sockets with variable output level, use knob OUT-
PUT LEVEL to adjust the output level to the amplifer, so that, when
switching from cassette to CD playback, no volume difference can
be noticed.
Connect the respective AF output via an appropriate phono cable
(Stereo) to the respective input of the amplifier. Appropriate annpli-
fier inputs have the designation CD or AUX. lt is also possible to
use the TUNER, TAPE, LINE IN or TV input of the amplifier. Never
connect the CD player to the PHONO input, as this is only suitable
for dynamic or nnagnetic cartridges.
When connecting to the amplifier, observe correct polarity of the
stereo channels (L-R or colour coding).
Further Connections

TRACK and INDEX on Compact Discs
For "Piece" or "Title" of a compact disc the international designation
"Track" is offen used. Respective designations can be found in the display
and on the buttons of your CD player for selecting the numbered titles, i.e.
tracks.
On your CD player, you will find another pair of buttons with the designa-
tion INDEX. This term is related to the particularity of some compact discs.
On these discs, the tracks (e.g. parts of a composition) are always encod-
ed by a basic index 01 and further indexes for specific variations of a cer-
tain theme (e.g. an aha or a solo part). For further details of the indexes
please refer to the leaflets which you obtain with the compact discs.
With the help of the index buttons of your CD playeryou will have quick ac-
cess to the individual indexes of a track.
On compact discs without additional index encoding, the display always
will show the actual treck number and the index number 01.
