What you can do with the ARGUS Presence system
What you can do with the ARGUS Presence system
The ARGUS Presence system 550499 is an electronic movement
detector for use inside buildings, such as offices, schools or public
buildings, or for domestic use. It consists of a control device (Figure
!A) and a sensor head (B), connected via a 2.5 m interconnecting
cable and designed for installation in suspended ceilings.
You can extend the system with the ARGUS Presence system sensor
550419 (Figure „). Every sensor head has two sockets, thus allowing for
through-wiring to other sensor heads by using the 8 m interconnecting
cable. In this way, you can connect up to eight sensor heads together in
series to a control device and can thus monitor long corridors or large
rooms, for example.
The sensor head registers moving sources of heat, such as people. When
it detects a movement, it switches the connected loads. It has two
channels (relay outputs) available to do this:
Channel/relay output 1 (brightness-dependent)
The integrated light sensor in the sensor head measures the brightness
continually and compares it with the brightness threshold which you have
set for each sensor head (10-1000 lux). If the brightness level is sufficient,
the control device will not switch the light on despite registering motion,
thus saving costs. Only when the brightness falls below the brightness
threshold will a movement in the detection area trigger channel 1 to
switch on.
Figure §:
A The brightness threshold is set to 500 lux, the room is empty,
brightness is 200 lux, the lighting is switched off.
B Someone enters the room; having detected a movement, the ARGUS
Presence system switches the lighting on (400 lux).
C The total brightness in the room is now 600 lux. This is above the
brightness threshold, but the "intelligent" ARGUS Presence system
still knows not to switch the lighting off.
