3.5 Repair of the centrifugal brake

Repairs may only be carried out
by authorised and qualified per-
sonnel.
Always switch off the breaking
saw before repair work and dis-
connect it from the works mains.
Use only original EFA spare parts!
Spare parts lists with the correspond-
ing numbering can be found in Annex
A.3 (p. 28).
On request, spare parts lists can be
supplied to the repair workshop with
qualified specialist staff.
1. Remove four hexagon bolts (109)
2. Remove head (60) from the motor
3. Remove the three gear wheels (80)
4. Remove planetary gear carrier (76)
5. Remove the individual parts of the brake. These
must move freely.
6. Check the balls (117) for ease of movement.
7. Inspect the friction disc (113) and disc (112) for
wear and replace, if necessary.
8. Grease all parts lightly with "EFA Special
Grease" (Order No. 00 1365 622).
9. Adjust the centrifugal brake as follows (max. 3 s
run-on time):
Loosen locking bolt (120b)
Adjust the braking effect with bolt (120)
(clockwise rotation = increase braking effect,
anti-clockwise rotation = decrease braking
effect)
Be sure to tighten bolt (120) securely to pre-
vent the changing of the brake settings due
to vibration
10.Part (83) has to be removed for adjustment of
the planetary gear. During installation, the car-
rier must have a press fit.
11.When pressing on, position the intermediate
part against the face of the gearing (70)
The further installation is performed in the reverse
order.

3.6 Adjustment of the spring bal-
ancer
The fine adjustment of the spring balancer is effect-
ed via the PLUS/MINUS screw on its housing (see
Fig. 11).
Figure 11: Spring balancer
Turn the screw in MINUS direction until the saw
is hanging freely in equilibrium (with the spring
balancer) at working height.
If the saw cannot be pulled out, the spring balancer
is jammed and a readjustment is necessary:
Turn the screw in PLUS direction until the saw
can be pulled out and start the fine adjustment
again (see above).

4. Maintenance

Malfunctions may occur during operation, but these
are generally relatively simple to remedy. Table 3:
Troubleshooting lists these malfunctions with possi-
ble causes and resulting potential remedies.
