4.2.2 Securely lifting transport loads

WARNING
If the height of the load exceeds the length of the side
to be lifted, appropriate safety precautions must be
taken in order to prevent the load from toppling over.
This also applies to machines in which the centre of
gravity is located in the upper half of the load.
DANGER
When lifting or lowering a load, this might result in
injuries or damage. Wear protective clothing, particularly
safety shoes.
Lifting height: With large lifting heights, take care
to work step by step. One-sided lifting or lowering
steps of more than 30 mm are not allowed. To secure
the load during stepwise changeover, suitable under-
lying supports, preferably made of steel or hardwood,
must be used for the weight of the load. This applies
particularly to loads with a high centre of gravity or
small floor space.
Lifting or lowering: Once all of the steps menti-
oned above have been performed, first lift or lower the
load only a few millimetres in order to check if there
are any unintentional load displacements or deforma-
tions at the support points; only continue with the next
operation after doing this.

4.3 Putting the jack into operation with
a pump
DANGER
The working pressure of the central pump used must
not exceed 520 bar. We recommend using an original
central pump from JUNG for this, which is available in
versions with manual, electrical, battery-operated or
air-hydraulic actuation. When using a third-party pump,
the pressure must be limited to 520 bar with a pres-
sure relief valve. Limiting by reading off of a pressure
gauge is not permissible.
DANGER
When working with two or more lifting devices without a
central pump, there is a risk that individual jacks will be
overloaded and damaged when lowered unevenly. This
can result in the lifted load dropping suddenly or tipping
over, causing a considerable health risk to the operating
personnel as well as a risk of damage to the lifted load
or devices within the safety distance.
WARNING
Fundamentally, when working with the internal pump
of a jack, make sure that the operator only actuates
the jack at the provided lowering screw when lowering.
Neither the operator nor other persons may stand
under the lifted object or handle the lifted toe of the
jack, and other parts of their body must also not be
in this area. It is not allowed to touch the housing,
slide or toe during lowering. This is hazardous for the
operator because the slide and toe move against the
fixed housing and the base during lowering. This may
cause clothing or body parts to be caught, crushed or
cut off.
