4.3 SAFETY DEVICES

4.3.1 Electrical protection

Safety earthing
Given the presence of capacitors in the input filter, current to earth may occur. Choose a
suitable safety device according to local regulations.
Residual current circuit breaker (RCD/RCCB)
When a residual current circuit breaker (RCD) is used, make sure it trips even if a short circuit
occurs in the DC part of the earth connection of AQUONTROLLER!
Use RCD's that are sensitive to pulse currents. Install the residue current circuit breaker
according to local laws!
Note: It is recommended using a slow differential protection device AC 0.03A. In some
applications, and exclusive protection by use of submersibles, you must install a protection AC
0.15 to 0.30A.
Automatic circuit breaker
Use an automatic circuit switch with a type-C characteristic curve. Consult the Technical
Specifications for the size of the mains protection system see chap. 2.4.
4.3.2 Hydraulic protection
The AQUONTROLLER inverter must be suitably installed to avoid overpressure on the inverter
caused by water hammer. The shock absorbers must be correctly serviced in order to assure
protection against overpressure.
ATTENTION! The inverter is an electric device. If the mechanical structure of the AQUONTROLLER
is damaged by pressure shocks, water infiltrations could cause dangerous electrical discharges
between the electric components and the water.
The supplier declines all liability for damage caused by the incorrect system installation and
maintenance.

4.4 ACCESSORIES

4.4.1 Impedance coils for motor cables longer than 5 meters
CAUTION! Always keep motor cables as short as possible!
With motor cable length of more than 5 meters the installation of impedance coils is required between
AQUONTROLLER and motor. In any case, the motor cable length shall not exceed 100 meters.
Install the impedance coil as close as possible to AQUONTROLLER that air can circulate for cooling.
MMA version the Impedance coil has to be mounted diretly at the top of the inverter.
MMW version, separate installation.
The installation of the impedance coil and the size of the motor cable has be determined by the
installer.
The following sections are recommendations based on the length of the motor cable.
