Seating Shell Interfaces

The seating shell interfaces (Fig. 12) serve as the basis for individual seating shell fittings. As with the multi-functional
seating unit, they fit all mobility bases.
Seating shell interfaces are available in various sizes and can include a footrest assembly.
Attachment to the seat support fixtures and the function and operation of the footrest assembly are identical to those
of the seating unit; please refer to section "Multi-functional Seating Unit".

Accessories

All accessories not installed by the manufacturer must be installed by trained technicians.
The following notes on installation are listed here for technician use.
Before installation of many accessories, the leather strips must be cut open. To do this, first mark the leather. Next pre-
punch the start and end of the cut with a hole punch and finally make a cut that connects two holes (Fig. 18).
Straps on accessories are usually extra long to accommodate most positions.
Excess strap ends can be cut off, and the cut edge melted together with a flame (cigarette lighter) in order to prevent
fraying.
Roll loops
To offer better strap positioning in the pelvic area, the Kimba seating unit is delivered with two roll loops. Depending on
individual requirements you can mount these roll loops on either side in three different positions (Fig. 22).

Abductor

Make a cut in the synthetic leather strip in the seat padding, place the abductor (Fig. 19) in the desired position, and
affix it with screws from below.
When using a slipsack, also cut a slit at the appropriate location.
Models with depth adjustment can be adjusted in the slotted hole.

Chest and shoulder pad

The chest and shoulder pad straps (Fig. 20, item A) are attached to the back plate with cam-lock buckles and must be
attached to the back insert before the back padding is attached to the back plate. To do this, locate the slotted holes
beneath the shoulder strap openings on the back insert and use the knurled nuts to attach the cam-lock buckles (Fig.
21) to the outside of the back insert. Make sure that the knurled nuts are on the outside.
Guide the shoulder straps for the chest and shoulder pad to the rear. Thread the lower straps between seat and back
surface to the rear, through the roll loop (Fig. 22). Thread the straps through the open cam-lock buckles (Fig. 21) and
clamp in position by closing the cam-lock buckles.
Applying the chest and shoulder pad
Before seating the child in the Kimba Spring, release the four cam-lock buckles (Fig. 21) on the back plate and slightly
pull the chest and shoulder pad to the front. Then open the cam-lock buckles at the lower end of the pad (Fig. 20,
item B), pull out the straps, and position them on the sides of the seat. Place the child in the Kimba Spring and pull the
chest and shoulder pad over the child's head onto his or her chest. Next, thread the straps into the lower cam-lock
buckles of the pad (Fig. 20, item B) all the way to the stop (rivet) and close the buckles.
Then tighten the lower straps from behind (making sure that the chest and shoulder pad is positioned symmetrically on
the pelvis) and close the buckles on the lower straps. Finally, tighten the upper straps on the backside of the seat and
close the buckles on the upper straps.
To ensure the correct fit, make sure that the straps are not touching the child and that the reinforced edge of the pad
is not in contact with the strap guide slot.
The pad will provide the best upper-body support when the strap guide slot is approx. 2-3 cm above the child's
shoulder. If necessary, readjust the back insert accordingly.

Canopy

- First mount the canopy adapters to the back insert (Fig. 23).
- Make sure that the male side of the quick-release buckle is inside the canopy material (Fig. 24).
- Later, the canopy will be connected or separated using only the male side of the quick-release buckle (Fig. 25, item
A).
- For angle adjustment of the canopy, adjustable ratchet joints are used (Fig. 25, item B).
- Spread the canopy/ wrap over the seat's backrest (Fig. 26).

Weight of the child
These indications are only suggestions, which can be changed depending on the individual
situation of the child.
