4. Power supply

We recommend connecting the three power components; servo drive (18), extruder plasticizing unit (25),
and the LHS 21 air heater (14) separately. The supply line can be established through the cable gland (19) for
the LHS 21 and the plasticizing unit. The servo drive is controlled via the plug (13) on the motor housing. The
electrical wiring and fuse protection for the servo drive (18), the extruder plasticizing unit (25), and the LHS
21 air heater (14) must meet the power requirements and comply with local regulations.
The extruder plasticizing unit must be heated to the relevant target temperature before the servo drive may be
switched on.
Caution: A 10-minute waiting period must be enforced once the target temperature is reached.

5. Process parameters

PE plastic temperature 230 °C, preheated air 260 °C
PP plastic temperature 240 °C, preheated air 260 °C

6. Manual reference measurements

Plastic temperature: at the front, with temperature probe placed 10 mm into the opening of the welding shoe. Hot
air temperature: at the front, with temperature probe placed 5 mm into the nozzle. Check for hot spots.
The temperature probes for the plastic temperature (25) and hot air temperature (13) must be calibrated
using an offset parameter in the working range based on the reference measurements.

7. Intake flange cooling

The temperature of the intake flange (23) can be monitored using the thermocouple (24). The temperature of
the feed-in sleeve should not exceed 65 °C. When the heater for the extruder plasticizing unit (25) is switched
on, the cooling air for the intake flange should also be switched on. An air pressure between 2 and 4 bar is gener-
ally sufficient. The compressed air connection is established via a push-fit ø 6 hose connection (1).

8. Hot air supply, LHS 21 air heater

The LHS 21 air heater (14) is required to produce the preheated air. The air for the LHS is supplied via
compressed air. For the WELDPLAST 200-i, the LHS 21S air heaters are provided with 230 V / 2000 W; for the
WELDPLAST 600-i, the LHS 21L air heaters are provided with 230 V / 3300 W.
Both the LHS 21S/L air heater versions are available in the CLASSIC, PREMIUM, and SYSTEM models.
• LHS CLASSIC: air heater with heating element and heating element overheat alarm (relay).
• LHS PREMIUM: air heater with integrated power control (potentiometer) and heating element overheat alarm
(relay).
• LHS SYSTEM: air heater with integrated power and temperature control, heating element overheat alarm (relay),
and 4–20 mA and 0–10 interface.
The air temperature on the hot air pipe (6) can be measured using the thermocouple (3).
For further details, please refer to the operating instructions for the LHS Air Heaters.
