– Insert the fastening screws (42) into the threaded holes
and tighten them using the hex key provided (38).
– Turn the power tool over so that it is back in the correct
position for working.
Do not remove the tilt protector. Without the tilt pro-
u
tector, the power tool will not be stable and can tip over
especially when sawing maximum mitre/bevel angles.
Fitting stationary saw table extensions (see figure B)
The stationary saw table extensions (17) must be screwed
to the power tool on the left and right of the saw table (8).
– Push one saw table extension (17) at a time forwards into
the openings (34) on the power tool with the fastening
screws (16).
– Tighten the fastening screws (16) with the hex key (38)
provided.
Stationary or flexible mounting
To ensure safe handling, the power tool must be
u
mounted on a flat, stable work surface (e.g. work
bench) before use.
Assembly without base unit (see figure C)
– Use suitable screw fasteners to secure the power tool to
the work surface. Use the holes (9) to do this.
Flexible installation (not recommended) (see figure D)
If, in exceptional circumstances, it is not possible to mount
the power tool on a flat and stable work surface, you can im-
provise by setting it up with the tilt protector.
Without the tilt protector, the power tool will not be
u
stable and can tip over especially when sawing max-
imum mitre and/or bevel angles.
– Rotate the tilt protector (12) inwards or outwards until
the power tool is positioned straight on the work surface.
PCM 8 ST: Assembly with base unit (see figures F1−F6)
– Place one plastic cap on each leg profile (F).
– Insert two carriage bolts (g) through a long leg profile (F),
a short leg profile (C) and a short connecting profile (E).
Loosely secure the carriage bolts with flange nuts (h).
– Connect a second leg (long leg profile (F), short leg pro-
file (C)) to the short connecting profile (E). Loosely se-
cure the carriage bolts with flange nuts (h).
– Repeat both of the previous steps with the remaining pro-
files (F), (C), (E).
– Connect each of the now assembled side sections of the
base unit with a long connecting profile (D). Loosely se-
cure the carriage bolts with flange nuts (h).
– Place the long head profiles(A) on the leg profiles (C) and
screw them firmly to the base unit.
– Place the short head profiles (B) on the outside of the
long head profiles (A) (holes facing upwards) and screw
them firmly to the base unit. Make sure that the mounting
holes of both head parts are flush.
– Place the shims (i) all the way onto the short head pro-
files (B). Ensure that the holes of the shim align with
those in the head part.
Bosch Power Tools
– Insert one carriage bolt (g) through the square hole of the
shim (i) and one through the hole on the head profile (B).
Loosely secure the carriage bolts with flange nuts (h).
– Tighten all flange nuts (h) with a ring spanner or open-
ended spanner (12 mm).
– Place the power tool on the shims (i). Make sure that the
holes (9) on the power tool align with the holes of the
shim and those in the head part.
– Screw the power tool to the base unit using the fastening
screws (j), the washers (k) and the flange nuts (h).

Dust/chip extraction

The dust from materials such as lead paint, some types of
wood, minerals and metal can be harmful to human health.
Touching or breathing in this dust can trigger allergic reac-
tions and/or cause respiratory illnesses in the user or in
people in the near vicinity.
Certain dusts, such as oak or beech dust, are classified as
carcinogenic, especially in conjunction with wood treatment
additives (chromate, wood preservative). Materials contain-
ing asbestos may only be machined by specialists.
– Use a dust extraction system that is suitable for the ma-
terial wherever possible.
– Provide good ventilation at the workplace.
– It is advisable to wear a P2 filter class breathing mask.
The regulations on the material being machined that apply in
the country of use must be observed.
Avoid dust accumulation at the workplace. Dust can
u
easily ignite.
The dust/chip extraction system can be blocked by dust,
chips or fragments of the workpiece.
– Switch the power tool off and pull the mains plug out of
the socket.
– Wait until the saw blade has come to a complete stop.
– Determine the cause of the blockage and eliminate it.
Self-generated dust extraction (see figure E)
– Attach the dust bag (23) to the chip ejector (29).
During sawing, the dust bag must not come into contact with
moving tool components.
Always empty the dust bag in good time.
External dust extraction
You can also attach a dust extraction hose (35 mm dia-
meter) to the chip ejector (29) for extraction.
– Connect the dust extraction hose to the chip ejector (29).
The dust extractor must be suitable for the material being
worked.
When vacuuming dry dust that is especially detrimental to
health or carcinogenic, use a special dust extractor.
Changing the saw blade (see figures G1−G4)
Pull the plug out of the socket before carrying out any
u
work on the power tool.
Wear protective gloves when fitting the saw blade.
u
There is a risk of injury when touching the saw blade.
