1.5 Description of device

1.5.5 Reset

1.5.5.1 Manual and automatic resets
50
There are two types of faults: process faults (e.g., in the event of a phase
failure) and device faults (e.g., internal device faults). The Reset button can
be used to reset process error conditions manually (→ Section 3.2, "Device
status", Page 60). Moreover, the Reset button can also be used to check the
rated motor current that has been set (→ Chapter 3, "Commissioning",
Page 59).
The SmartWire-DT system can be used to carry out a manual or automatic
reset in order to reset error conditions. Whether or not a manual reset is
required will be indicated in the electronic motor starter's cyclical input data
(ACKR data field).
A rising edge (signal change from 0 to 1) on output bit 0.3 (RESM bit) will
trigger a manual reset. Manual resets can be carried out 2 minutes after the
occurrence of a fault.
Output bit 0.4 (RESA bit) can be used to trigger an automatic reset. This
output bit must be set before a fault occurs and must remain this way for the
duration of the cool-down period.
Automatic resets are triggered after a period of 20 minutes.
DANGER
Automatic restarting may result in bodily injury and/or property
damage. There is a risk of an automatic restart occurring when
the unit is in the "automatic reset" operating mode (output bit
0.4 (RESA bit) permanently set to 1).
When a unit is using this mode, the unit will restart
automatically after the cool-down period (20 minutes) elapses.
DANGER
Automatic restarting is strictly prohibited in hazardous location
applications.
