Charging the accumulator, (Fig. 7)

The accumulator may be charged with
NITROGEN (N
) only!

Use of other gases can cause an explosion.
•
Use pressure regulator (J) filling hose (I) and nip-
ple (G).
•
Remove casing (E) and connect the filler hose (l)
to the charging valve.
•
For the SB 300/450 the plug (E) is dismant
led and the nipple (G) assembled. Dismantle the
nipple (H) and connect the filling hose (I) to the
nipple (G).
•
Check that pressure regulator (J) is completely
unscrewed.
•
Open the valve nut/screw (F) 2-3 turns.
•
Open gas valve (M), the pressure in the gas cy-
linder can be read off on pressure gauge (N). It
must be higher than the charging pressure of the
accumulator.
•
Screw in pressure regulator (J), the charging
pressure of the accumulator is read off on pres-
sure gauge (O). Charge the accumulator with 40
bar.
•
Tighten the valve nut (F) by 30 Nm and the screw
(F) by 20 Nm (SB 300/450).
•
Close gas valve (M).
•
Undo the gas hose and the nipple, and screw the
protective cover/plug onto the accumulator.
Deviating from the pressure valves reduces di-
aphragm life.
Maximum cleanliness must be observed when
changing the accumulator on the work site.
Changing the chisel, (Fig. 4)

CAUTION
Remember that the large chisels are heave.
Take care, and use suitable lifting equipment
when removing and fitting heavy chisels.
The carrier's engine must be switched off
when tools are being changed.
SB 150 - 450 hammers:
•
Knock out the locking pin with a suitable drift and
remove the chisels, one at a time.
•
Disassembly the tool.
•
Check that the lock buffer of the locking pin is not
damaged or worn.
•
Clean and lubricate the shank of the chisel before
fitting. It is especially important to lubricate a new
chisel thoroughly.
•
The procedure for fitting the chisel is the reverse
of the removal procedure.
