7 Dolby Pro-Logic-Betrieb
Das faszinierende an einem Kinobesuch ist der
überwältigende Sound, bei dem man das Gefühl hat,
sich mitten im Geschehen zu befinden. Der DSR-
2000 kann denselben dreidimensionalen Klang in
Ihrem Wohnzimmer wiedergeben. Dazu müssen zu-
sätzlich zu den normalen Stereo-Lautsprechern zwei
Surround-Lautsprecher und nach Möglichkeit auch
ein Center-Lautsprecher angeschlossen werden
(siehe Kapitel 3 „Plazierung der Lautsprecher" und
Kapitel 4.2 „Lautsprecher"). Als Signalquelle dient
das Fernsehgerät oder der Videorecorder, denn
viele Kinofilme, auf Videokassette oder über Fern-
sehen ausgestrahlt, sind mit der Dolby Surround
Pro-Logic Technik aufgenommen. Diese Filme sind
mit folgendem Emblem gekennzeichnet:

7.1 Einstellungen für Dolby Pro-Logic-Betrieb
1) Taste PRO-LOGIC (6) drücken. Der Schriftzug
läuft im Display durch.
PRO LOGIC
2) Mit der Taste CENTER MODE (6) den Typ des
Center-Lautsprechers auswählen. Die Einstel-
lung wird rechts im Display unter der Zeile
angezeigt:
MODE
NORMAL = kompakte Center-Box
WIDE = Vollbereichs-HiFi-Box
PHANTOM = Center-Lautsprecher fehlt (nur im
Modus Pro-Logic wählbar)
3) Taste TEST TONE (15) drücken. Es ist jetzt der
Rauschgenerator eingeschaltet, der zur Einstel-
lung der Lautstärke aller Lautsprecher unterein-
ander dient. Das Rauschen wird automatisch von
Lautsprecher zu Lautsprecher umgeschaltet. Das
Display zeigt an, welcher Lautsprecher einge-
schaltet ist:
TEST L = linker Front-Lautsprecher
TEST C = Center-Lautsprecher
TEST R = rechter Front-Lautsprecher
TEST S = beide Surround-Lautsprecher
7 Dolby Pro-Logic operation
The fascination of a movie theater visit is the over-
whelming sound with the feeling of being in the cen-
ter of the action. The DSR-2000 can reproduce the
same three dimensional sound in your living room.
For this in addition to the normal stereo speakers two
surround speakers and if possible also one center
speaker must be connected (see chapter 3 "Placing
the speakers" and chapter 4.2 "Speakers"). The TV
set or the video recorder serve as a signal source be-
cause many movies on video cassette or TV have
been recorded with the Dolby Surround Pro-Logic
technique. These movies are marked with the follow-
ing emblem:

7.1 Adjustments for Dolby Pro-Logic
operation
1) Press the button PRO-LOGIC (6).

2) Select the type of the center speaker with the
button CENTER MODE (6). The adjustment
is displayed at the right below the line
.
MODE
NORMAL = Compact center speaker system
WIDE = Full range HiFi speaker system
PHANTOM = No center speaker (only select-
able in the Pro-Logic mode)
3) Press the button TEST TONE (15). Now the noise
generator is switched on which serves for adjust-
ing the volume of all speakers with each other.
The noise is automatically switched over from
speaker to speaker. The display shows which
speaker is switched on:
TEST L = left front speaker
TEST C = center speaker
TEST R = right front speaker
TEST S = both surround speakers
4) Für einen optimalen Raumklang sollen alle Laut-
sprecher vom Hörplatz aus gleich laut zu hören
sein. Mit dem Balanceregler BALANCE (24) die
Front-Lautsprecher gleich laut einstellen.
5) Mit den Tasten CENTER LEVEL (16) den Center-
Lautsprecher an die Lautstärke der Front-Laut-
sprecher anpassen. Im Display erscheint zur
Kontrolle ein 'C' für Center-Lautsprecher und der
eingestellte Wert von -10 bis +10 dB.
Ist der Center-Modus PHANTOM gewählt (= kein
Center-Lautsprecher, siehe Punkt 2), ist diese
Einstellung nicht möglich.
6) Mit den Tasten REAR LEVEL (16) die Surround-
Lautsprecher an die Lautstärke der Front-Laut-
sprecher anpassen. Im Display erscheint zur
Kontrolle ein 'R' für Rear = Surround-Lautspre-
cher und der eingestellte Wert von -10 bis +10 dB.
7) Mit der Taste TEST TONE (15) den Rauschgene-
rator wieder ausschalten.
8) Mit der Taste DELAY TIME (21) die Verzöge-
rungszeit des Signals für die Surround-Lautspre-
cher einstellen. Es kann eine Verzögerung von
15-30 ms eingestellt werden. Mit jedem Betäti-
gen der Taste DELAY TIME erhöht sich die Zeit
um 5 ms bzw. springt nach der Einstellung 30 ms
auf 15 ms zurück (ms = Millisekunden).
CENTER
Die Verzögerungszeit hängt von der Hörposition
ab. Dazu muß der Abstand vom Hörplatz zu den
Front-Lautsprechern und der Abstand vom Hör-
platz zu den Surround-Lautsprechern bestimmt
werden. In der folgenden Tabelle diese Abstände
aufsuchen (Abstände in Meter). In dem Kreu-
zungspunkt beider Abstände ist die einzustel-
lende Verzögerungszeit in Millisekunden (ms) an-
geben.
4) For an optimum 3-dimensional effect the volume
of sound of all speakers at the place of hearing
must be the same. With the control BALANCE
(24) adjust the same volume for the front speak-
ers.
5) With the buttons CENTER LEVEL (16) adjust the
volume of the center speaker to that of the front
speakers. As a control the display shows 'C' for
center speaker and the adjusted level from
-10 up to +10 dB.
If the center mode PHANTOM has been chosen
(no center speaker, see item 2), this adjustment is
not possible.
6) With the buttons REAR LEVEL (16) adjust the vol-
ume of the surround speakers to that of the front
speakers. As a control in the display 'R' is shown
for rear = surround speakers and the adjusted
level from -10 up to +10 dB.
7) Switch off the noise generator again with the but-
ton TEST TONE (15).
8) With the button DELAY TIME (21) adjust the delay
time of the signal for the surround speakers. A

delay time from 15-30 ms can be adjusted. With
every pressing of the button DELAY TIME the
time is increased by 5 ms resp. after the adjust-
ment of 30 ms it jumps back to 15 ms (ms = milli-

seconds).
The delay time depends on the place of hearing.
For this the distance from the place of hearing to
the front speakers and the distance from the
place of hearing to the surround speakers must
be determined. Look for these distances in the fol-
lowing table (distances in m). The cross point of
both distances indicates the delay time to be ad-
justed in milliseconds (ms).

7.2 Dolby Pro-Logic-Wiedergabe

Die Einstellungen von Kapitel 7.1 müssen durchge-
führt worden sein.
1) Die Taste PRO-LOGIC (6) am Receiver drücken,
oder auf der Fernbedienung die Taste SUR-
ROUND MODE so oft betätigen, bis im Display
die Anzeige erscheint.

2) Mit dem Eingangswähler INPUT SELECTOR (10)
den entsprechenden Eingang wählen.
3) Lautstärke, Baß und Höhen nach Bedarf einstel-
len.
4) Nach Beendigung der Dolby Pro-Logic-Wieder-
gabe wieder auf normale Stereo-Wiedergabe
zurückschalten:
Am Receiver die Taste BYPASS drücken, oder
auf der Fernbedienung die Taste SURROUND
MODE 4mal betätigen. Im Display darf dann
keine der folgenden Anzeigen leuchten:

7.2 Dolby Pro-Logic reproduction

The adjustments of chapter 7.1 must have been car-
ried out.
1) Press the button PRO-LOGIC (6) at the receiver
or the button SURROUND MODE at the remote
control so many times until

2) With the INPUT SELECTOR knob (10) select the
corresponding input.
3) Adjust volume, bass, and treble as desired.
4) After end of the Dolby Pro-Logic operation switch
back again to normal stereo reproduction:
Press the button BYPASS at the receiver or press
the button SURROUND MODE at the remote
control 4 times. There must be no display of:

7.3 Dolby 3 Stereo reproduction

The mode Dolby 3 Stereo improves via the center
speaker the reproduction of the acoustic center with
a normal stereo signal. By this there is a wider range
in which there is an optimum stereo effect. The sur-
