Within a system samos®PRO the controller SP-SCON is located on
the left-hand side of the modules, followed by one or two optional
gateways. Then the I/O-expansion modules SP-SDIO and/or SP-
SDI are following.
During the installation pay attention to ESD-protective measures.
Otherwise the system can be damaged.
The connection between the modules is realised by the integrated
S-BUS+ interface.
Installation according to EN 50274
The modules have a housing width of 22,5 mm and are designed
for the installation on 35-mm-DIN-rails according to EN 60715.
2
> Put the module on the DIN-rail (1).
> Observe the correct position of the functional earth contact (2).
This functional earth contact has to be connected properly to the
DIN-rail.
> Snap the module on the DIN-rail by pushing it smoothly into the
designated direction. (3).
> Adjacent modules have to be connected by pushing them into
the designated direction until they are snapped together.
> Install termination parts beside the system.
4.2 Steps of deinstallation of the modules
> Remove the pluggable terminal blocks with the wiring.

3
> Disconnect the modules by moving them separately into the
designated direction.
> Push the module down on the backmost part of the housing (1)
and remove it in the designated way from the DIN-rail (2).

installation.
The configurable safety controller samosPRO conforms to EMC-
regulations according to EN 61000-6-2:2001 for the industrial
environment.
The cabinet respectively the installation housing for the configura-
ble safety controller samosPRO must have a protection degree of
IP 54 or more.
Installation according to EN 50274
Electrical installation according to EN 60204-1
To guarantee the EMC the DIN-rail has to be connected to the
functional earth.
All modules of configurable safety controller samosPRO, the
external EMC-protection and all power supplies have to be con-
nected to the same ground potential (GND).
The external voltage supply of the modules has to bridgeover a
short voltage drop of 20 ms according to EN 60204.
The voltage supply has to meet the regulations for safety extra low
voltage (SELV, PELV) according to EN 60664 and DIN 50178.
The wiring (e.g. for the reset) has to be passed in a screened and
sheathed cable.
All switching elements connected to the system samos®PRO and
all PLC next in line and the wiring have to be implemented in
accordance with the required safety categories or safety levels.
For protection of the safety outputs and in order to increase the
working life of contacts external loads must have protective ele-
ments, such as varistors or RC-elements. The use of these protec-
tive elements can prolong the reaction time of the system depend-
ing on the type of element.
The safety outputs of the system and the external device monitor-
ing (EDM) have to be connected and wired within one cabinet.
When changing a controller module it has to be assured that the
memory plug is connected to the designated controller module,
e.g. by wiring or marking.
Further information being relevant for the installation of the
configurable safety controller samosPRO is documented in the
system manuals ''samos®PRO Hardware" (BA000497) and
''samos®PLAN Software'' (BA000518).
