2.5 If you discover a defect

Defective equipment can cause injury and damage to property:
Never use the electronic kitchen scales if the glass is broken. There is an acute
ƒ
health hazard from glass splinters!
Check the electronic kitchen scales for damage before every use. If you discover
ƒ
any damage, immediately contact Customer Service (see 5.3 "Customer Ser-
vice") or a similarly qualified person. Never operate a defective device.

2.6 How to avoid hazards from batteries

There is an acute health hazard from improper use of batteries:
Store batteries away from children and animals.

Seek medical attention immediately if a child or animal has swallowed a battery!
ƒ
Dispose of used or leaked batteries immediately in accordance with the applica-
ƒ
ble guidelines (see 6.2 "Disposal of batteries").
Improper use also increases the risk of explosion:
Replace batteries only with batteries of the same type.

Ensure the battery is inserted according to the plus and minus poles (see 5.2
ƒ
"Replacing the battery").
Store batteries in a cool, dry place. Do not expose batteries to excessive heat
ƒ
(e.g. direct sunlight).
Use only high quality batteries to prevent damage caused by leakage.
