Inappropriate use

Do not use with 6 volts batteries or with non-recharge-
able batteries!
The charger must not be used to charge 6 V lead batteries.
If batteries with a rated voltage of 6 V are charged with the
charger, gas is created immediately. Explosive oxyhydrogen
gas is generated.
The charger must not be used to charge non-rechargeable
batteries and / or nickel-cadmium batteries.
When charging these battery types with the charger, the outer
cover may rupture explosively.

Description

The charger is a product of the most up-to-date, microproces-
sor-controlled charging technology. This technology permits
high output together with low weight and small dimensions. By
using high-quality electronics, it operates with high efficiency.
Automatic charging affords protection and prevents harm-
ful battery overload. This considerably extends the life of the
battery. Once connected to the battery and the mains, the
charger is ready for operation.
The charger is designed for parallel operation and buffer
operation. At all times, consumers can remain connected,
be added or switched off. Consumers are supplied with the
power and the battery is charged at the same time. Consumer
current should be lower than the maximum charging current,
otherwise the battery will not be charged.
16
Using a charge control panel, e.g. the CALIRA LK-Panel II,
the operation readiness is displayed (mains and battery con-
nections present). Any malfunctions of the charger are also
shown on the CALIRA LK-Panel II – the LED for Battery II
flashes.
If the charger is operated together with a temperature sensor
for the supply battery, the charger controls the charging volt-
age automatically depending on the battery temperature. This
ensures a particularly effective and gentle charging process
for the battery. When not using a temperature sensor, the
charger controls the charging process as if the battery tem-
perature was 20 °C.
The device is designed for operation in ambient temperatures
of up to 35 °C. If the temperature inside the device rises due
to a lack of air circulation or due to high ambient temperature,
the charging current is automatically reduced in steps.
