Floor nozzle + extension hose
Attach the extension hose between the floor nozzle and
main unit when you clean lower places like a straw mat,
carpet and floor. You can easily clean these places without
leaning forward. (Fig. 12)
Crevice nozzle
Insert the crevice nozzle directly into the main unit to
clean narrow spaces in a car, furniture and sashes. (Fig.
13)
NOTE:
The cleaner may not be able to vacuum tiny pebbles.
Crevice nozzle + extension hose
Attach the extension hose between the crevice nozzle
and main unit when you clean behind furniture where
the main unit cannot get in, or narrow spaces in high
areas. (Fig. 14)
REMOVE COLLECTED DUST
WARNING
Make sure to turn off the switch to avoid any accident.
1. Open the front cover.
Push the push lever A on the front cover and then
hold the push lever to open the cover in the direction
of B. (Fig. 15, 16)
NOTE:
Do not pull the push lever toward C direction too
hard. (Fig. 17)
The push lever may come off.
2. Remove the dust bag.
Pull out the yellow dust stopper and dust bag together.
(Fig. 18)
3. Remove collected dust.
Detach the dust stopper before removing dust in the
dust bag. (Fig. 19, 20)
The dust bag is washable and reusable. Dispose of
collected dust only.
NOTE:
Be careful not to dispose of the dust stopper.
Collected dust should be disposed of frequently.
Suction power becomes weak if the cleaner contains
too much dust.
Make sure to remove dust inside of the main unit.
Ignoring this may result in clogged filter or motor
failure.
Dust stopper is necessary when attaching the dust
bag. Be careful not to dispose of the dust stopper.

REPLACING THE BATTERY

WARNING
Make sure to turn off the switch to avoid any accident.
Inappropriate handling of the battery may cause heat,
fire or explosion. Please be sure to heed the following
precautions.
Do not short-circuit across the battery terminals
with a metallic object.
Do not put the battery in a bag or box which
contains a metallic object such as a nail.
Do not throw the battery into the fire.
Keep the battery away from rain and water.
Never disassemble or modify the battery and do
not pierce it with a nail.

Do not replace the battery with wet hands. It may
cause electric shock or injury.
Wind an insulating tape around the terminals of the
removed battery and put the battery in a plastic bag
to separate it from iron and avoid being short-
circuited. (Fig. 21)
If a short circuit occurs, the battery may generate
heat, smoke or fire.
1. Removing the battery
1 Turn the switch to "0" (OFF).
Turn the switch to "0" (OFF) before replacing the
battery. (Fig. 22)
2 Remove the battery cap.
Unscrew the screw on the rear side of the main unit
using a Phillips screwdriver. Slide the battery cap
downward to remove it. (Fig. 23)
3 Remove the battery from the main unit. (Fig. 24)
Pull out the battery and connector from the main
unit.
Push the tab A on the connector and pull the battery
to remove it from the connector.
2. Attaching the battery
1 Insert the battery into the main unit.
Confirm that the switch is turned to "0" (OFF), and
then insert the battery into the main unit in the
direction shown in the figure. (Fig. 25)
2 Connect the battery to the connector.
Insert the terminal into the connector until it is firmly
seated. (Fig. 26)
3 Secure the battery to the main unit.
Put the connector into the space above the battery.
Then attach the battery cap by sliding it from
underneath and fix it with a screw. (Fig. 27, 28)
NOTE:
Do not dispose of spent batteries as they can be recycled.
Take them to your dealer or the Hitachi Authorized Service
Center.

MAINTENANCE AND INSPECTION

WARNING
Make sure to turn off the switch before inspecting or
maintaining the cleaner.
Do not perform inspection or maintenance with wet
hands. It may cause electric shock or injury.
1. Filter maintenance
Remove the dust bag and take out the filter located in
the back of the dust bag housing. (Fig. 29, 30)
Tap the filter gently to loosen dust or wash it with
water.
Press the rim of the filter into the back wall of the
dust bag housing.
NOTE:
After you clean the filter, make sure to attach it to the
cleaner. When you wash the filter with water, let the
filter dry completely before attaching it to the cleaner.
2. Cleaner maintenance
When the cleaner becomes soiled, wipe it using a
cloth slightly dampened with soapy water. Do not
use chemicals which can melt plastic, such as
gasoline, thinner, benzine and kerosene.
When suction power of the cleaner becomes weak
due to soiled dust bag, wash the dust bag with soapy
water by hands and let it dry completely before using
it again.
