LEDs INDICATE FOLLOWING CHARGE STATUS
Bulk Charge
RED
- The charger is in constant current mode
- Charge current is maximum (e.g. 2.7A).
- The battery voltage is lower than the bulk voltage level (e.g. <14.7V)
Balancing Charge
- The charger is in timer mode.
YELLOW
- Charger current is less than maximum (e.g. <2.7A)
- The battery is normally somewhere between 80 and 95% charged
when the LED-indicator changes to yellow.
- The battery voltage is equal to the bulk voltage level (e.g. 14.7).
- The charger stays in this mode until the timer runs out (e.g. 8h).
Float Charge
- The charger is in constant float voltage mode.
GREEN
- Charge current is normally very low (e.g.<2.7A)
- The battery is 100% charged
- The charge voltage is at float/standby level (e.g. 13.8V)
- The charger can remain connected to a battery for month or years in this state
- The charger will revert to the quick charge mode if the battery is loaded
Warning
Explosive gases. Prevent flames and sparks. Provide adequate ventilation during charging. Do not
use the charger in the presence of inflammable anasthetic gases.
Battery acid is very corrosive. Acid spilled on clothing should be immediately be washed off with
running water. If acid comes into contact with skin or eyes it must immediately be washed off with
running water, and if necessary a doctor should be contacted.
The charger has an internal 1.6A slow fuse which blows if a fault occurs in the charger. Such faults
must be repaired by a qualified service personnel. In addition, the charger is equipped with a Po-
lyswitch fuse which cuts off the unit in the case of reverse polarity connection to the battery. This
fuse will automatically be reset when the wrong polarity is removed.
NB! Old, sulphated batteries usually have a reduced capacity and are difficult to charge. The char-
ge current will fall quickly as if the battery had received a full charge. Even though a battery in this
condition should be replaced, it will retain a small charge.
