Radio clock with indoor/outdoor
temperature

Intended use
The device is a combination of a radio clock and an indoor/outdoor thermometer. The outdoor temperature
is determined by an external sensor and transmitted by radio (433 MHz) to the base station and displayed.
Power is supplied via batteries (not included in the delivery; can be ordered separately).
Always observe the safety instructions and all other information included in these operating instructions.

Safety Instructions
The warranty will be void in the event of damage caused by failure to observe these safety
instructions! We do not assume any liability for any consequential damage!
Nor do we assume any liability for material and personal damage caused by improper use
or non-compliance with the safety instructions! In such cases, the warranty will be null
and void.
• The unauthorised conversion and/or modifi cation of the product is not permitted for safety and
approval reasons (CE). Never dismantle it (except to replace the battery, when appropriate).
• The product is not a toy and must be kept out of the reach of children. It should be operated
out of the reach of children.
• The radio clock is only intended for use in dry, closed interiors, it must not get damp or wet.
• The outdoor sensor is suitable for use in sheltered outdoor areas (e.g. under a roof overhand).
Never dip the outdoor sensor in or under water; this may destroy it.
• Do not leave packaging material carelessly lying around, since it could become a dangerous
plaything for children.
• Handle the product with care; it can be damaged by impacts, blows, or accidental drops, even
from a low height.
Notes on Batteries and Rechargeable Batteries
• Batteries/rechargeable batteries must be kept out of the reach of children.
• Do not leave batteries/rechargeable batteries lying around; they could be swallowed by children or pets. If
they are swallowed, consult a doctor immediately.
• Leaking, or damaged batteries/rechargeable batteries in contact with the skin can cause acid burns.
Therefore, use suitable protective gloves.
• Batteries/rechargeable batteries must not be short-circuited, opened or thrown into a fi re. There is a risk of
explosion!
• Do not recharge normal, non-rechargeable batteries: risk of explosion! Only charge rechargeable batteries
that are intended for this purpose; use a suitable battery charger.
• Never mix standard batteries with rechargeable batteries; use either standard batteries or rechargeable
batteries.
• Do not mix batteries/rechargeable batteries with different charge levels (e. g. full and half-full batteries/
rechargeable batteries).
• Always replace the complete set of batteries/rechargeable batteries.
• Check that the polarity is correct when inserting the batteries/rechargeable batteries (pay attention to
plus/+ and minus/-).

If you wish to use rechargeable batteries please note that, due to the lower output voltage
(batteries = 1.5 V, rechargeable batteries =1.2 V), the operating time will decrease. Moreover,
rechargeable batteries are more temperature-sensitive than normal ones.
Therefore, we recommend that you use high-quality alkaline batteries to ensure long-lasting and
reliable operation.
• The batteries must be replaced if the display contrast dims sharply or a battery symbol "
the display area of the indoor temperature (batteries of the radio clock are empty) or outdoor temperature
(batteries of the outdoor sensor are empty).

Getting Started
• Open the battery compartment (9), at the bottom of the radio clock. To do this, fi rst fold the base stand (10)
and then remove the battery compartment lid.
• Insert two batteries of type AA/mignon with correct polarity into the battery compartment (9) (observe posi-
tive/+ and negative/-). You will fi nd an appropriate diagram in the battery compartment.
• Close the battery compartment again.
• The radio clock shows all display segments and then starts the initial reception attempt for the DCF signal
(symbol (A) fl ashes) and for the signal of the outdoor sensor (Symbol (C) fl ashes). Now insert the batteries
in the outdoor sensor, see below.
Press the RESET (5) button if only confused characters appear in the display of the radio clock.

The DCF signal is a signal that is broadcast from a transmitter in Main-
fl ingen (near Frankfurt am Main).
It has a range of up to 1500 km and, under ideal reception conditions,
even up to 2000 km.
Inter alia the DCF signal contains the exact time of day (accuracy is
theoretically 1 second in 1 million years) and the date. For obvious
reasons, manual adjustment of summer and winter time is not required
("DST" appears at the left of the symbol for the DCF reception in sum-
mer) .
The automatic synchronisation of the radio clock with the DCF signal takes place daily at 01:00 at night,
as the reception conditions are better at this time.
If the DCF reception is smooth and disturbance-free, "WAVE OK" appears at the top right in the display.
• If the wall bracket (13) is plugged into the outdoor sensor, just remove it. Then open the battery compart-
ment (17) at the bottom of the outdoor sensor, turn the battery compartment lid e.g., with a small coin
anti-clockwise to the left to the "OPEN" position.
• Insert two batteries of type AA/mignon with correct polarity into the battery compartment (17) (observe
positive/+ and negative/-). There is a corresponding illustration at the rear of the outdoor sensor to facilitate
the insertion of the batteries.

• Close the battery compartment again. To do this, place the battery compartment lid in such a way that the
arrow on the battery compartment lid points to the "OPEN" direction. Then turn the battery compartment
lid e.g., with a small coin clockwise to the right to the "LOCK" position.
• The outdoor sensor shows all display segments briefl y and the initial temperature measurement value.

For better DCF reception, the radio clock can be mounted e.g., near a window. The reception
attempt may take up to 5 minutes. During this time, do not move the radio clock or press any
buttons.
If DCF time/date does not appear in the display of the radio clock even after 5 minutes, press
the "WAVE" (8) button briefl y; the symbol (A) for DCF reception starts fl ashing. The radio clock
makes another reception attempt for the DCF signal in the next fi ve minutes.
If the reception conditions are poor (e.g., in basement rooms) you can also adjust the time and
date manually.
If the outdoor temperature is not displayed (only dashes in the display area "D"), press the
RE-SYNC (7) button on the radio clock briefl y. The symbol (C) for radio reception of the outdoor
sensor starts to fl ash. Finally, press the "RESET" (16) button on the outdoor sensor.
