7. Commissioning

A rechargeable battery has been installed in the energy cost meter that
is used to operate/programme the meter without it being connected
to a mains outlet.
At delivery/initial commissioning, this rechargeable battery is usually
flat. The complete charging process may take a few hours.
Therefore, operation/programming of the energy cost meter is only pos-
sible during initial commissioning while it is directly connected to an
outlet.
Only after the rechargeable battery has been charged sufficiently (after
about 1 hour) can the energy cost meter be removed from the mains
outlet and then used to programme, e.g. in the living room or office
under sufficient lighting.
For reasons of power saving, the display lighting works only if the en-
ergy cost meter is connected to a mains outlet.
• Disconnect any consumer that may be connected from the energy cost me-
ter.
• Connect the energy cost meter to a common household wall outlet with a
protective ground (230 V/AC, 50 Hz).
• If the consumer that you want to connect to the energy cost meter has a
mains switch, switch it off.
• Connect the mains plug of the consumer in the outlet with protective conduc-
tor (4) of the energy cost meter.
• Switch the consumer on and wait for a few seconds until the energy cost me-
ter shows the first meter data.
Before the energy cost meter can be used with all functions, you need
to make a few more settings (e.g. time, current tariff).
