Introduction

Dear Customer,
Thank you for purchasing the EMC-Detector. You have acquired a
product manufactured to state-of-the-art technological standards.
EMC stands for electromagnetic compatibility. Almost all electrical
consumer devices radiate electromagnetic energy. Televisions and
PC monitors do this more, radios less. It is said that this electroma-
gnetic energy may produce long-term damage to human health ac-
cording to the intensity level and duration of exposure. The EMC
detector has been developed to identify these electromagnetic con-
sumers. The detector provides an easy way of identifying at what le-
vel of intensity your mains cable, PC or video monitor, TV or other
electrical appliances are emitting electromagnetic radiation.
The electromagnetic field is measured via a coil. The active electro-
magnetic field of a consumer device, an electric cable, etc., induces
a voltage in this coil. The voltage is amplified by the measurement
electronics, visually displayed via LEDs and acoustically signaled via
a piezo signal generator. The number of LEDs which light up is ac-
cording to the intensity of the field. When the display maximum (va-
lues greater than 10 mgauss) is reached (red LED) an acoustic sig-
nal is also given. However, the measuring device is not a precision
device and thus cannot be used in a scientific environment.
