What to Do if the CPU 417-4H with the Order Number 6ES7 417-4HL00 and
Firmware Version < V2.1 Fails
The two CPUs in a S7-400H must have the same firmware version.
If a CPU with the order number 6ES7 417-4HL00 fails in your S7-400H, order a new CPU with
the same order number. A CPU with the firmware version V 2.1 will be shipped. Then proceed
as follows:

Create an operating system update card for the firmware version of the failed CPU.
S
Use this to transfer the firmware version of the failed CPU to the new CPU.
S
The two CPUs now have the original firmware version. You can now transfer your S7-400H
to the redundant operating mode.
